This week, we’ll see two clashes between The Inner Circle & The Pinnacle, with the smaller clash being Shawn Spears vs. Sammy Guevara. Guevara and Spears have been steady rivals throughout this feud, and most notably clashed in the final moments of Stadium Stampede 2, where Guevara defeated Spears to the match. In addition to this, Guevara also has an announcement to make tonight. That was done before the show, where he’d propose to his girlfriend infront of his hometown crowd.
Shawn Spears Tries To Get The Advantage
Before Guevara even hit the ring, Spears would attack him from behind. Guevara heard him coming and maintained the upperhand, sending him off the stage before diving off onto him and hugging his fiancee. The beating kept coming, with Spears being thrown into the barricade. Spears would get Guevara into the steps, before Tully Blanchard helped him hit a double piledriver.
The match hadn’t started officially yet, and Spears would get him into the ring to get the bell to ring. Spears tried to set up another piledriver, but Tully would get sent backstage. Guevara had a chance to get some rest, and Tully wanted to fight Aubrey Edwards. In the corner, knees were hit to the face of Guevara.
Sammy Guevara Is On Fire Tonight
Spears would blow a kiss as Guevara’s fiance, before being caught with an enziguri, before Guevara went for the cutter. This was dodged, before they’d trade chops in the middle of the ring. Spears grabbed a steel chair after getting him down. However, his target wasn’t Guevara. He locked eyes with Guevara’s fiancee, but Guevara dove into him. A guardrail was pulled out from under the ring, and set up across from the ring and barricade.
Spears would hit a throat chop, and look to hit a superplex through the barricade. Guevara fought hard to prevent this, before hitting a cutter off the top rope. Spears would hit an Avalanche C4 in response, and get a very near fall for his troubles. He’d look for one through the barricade next, but his spine met steel instead.
Finally, a 630 senton would somehow only get a near fall. He’d expose his knee and nail Spears in the face three times, before the GTH crushed a bloody Spears.
A fun but basic match, with a great level of hatred mixed in between the faction feud and the involvement of Guevara’s engagement. Just a fun match that really pulled the crowd in. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
