It seems like the openness of AEW letting their wrestlers be able to wrestle in NJPW is opening up a lot of doors for some of the top wrestlers in AEW. A lot of new signings have gone into detail of them wanting to wrestle in NJPW.
Some of these include some of the most recent signings of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole. In interviews, all wrestlers have said that they are interested in wrestling in NJPW in the future. Following wrestlers like Jon Moxley, Lance Archer and soon Eddie Kingstone. In a recent interview, Adam Cole has gone into detail about him making his return to NJPW.
What Adam Cole had to say about NJPW
Speaking on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Adam Cole had this to say:
“New Japan is something I’d like to do more of. I had done a fair amount of tours, it was almost 10. I got to wrestle at Koruakan Hall and the Tokyo Dome and Sumo Hall and all these really cool venues. I enjoyed my time there and right as I was kind of find my footing there or gain momentum, that was when I left.
The chance to go back there would be really cool. I think back so fondly of my time in ROH. PWG, I had some of the times of my life there. I got my start in CZW, which is where I met Jon (Moxley). There’s a bunch of really cool things that I would like to do. Independent wrestling is a blast.”
When will the forbidden Door be taken off the hinges?
With a lot of AEW roster wanting to wrestle in NJPW and some NJPW wrestlers appearing in AEW. It asks the question, when will this happen more often? We are seeing Jon Moxley be the crossover with Lance Archer, but that is it for the moment.
We have seen a hint at Will Ospreay Vs. Kenny Omega, as well as Jay White but nothing, has happened in either show. It feels like now that more NJPW stars are wrestling in America, a build to something bigger needs to happen. It’s possible that in the future, we may see a lot more crossover between both companies.
