When Bobby Fish signed with All Elite Wrestling, his role in the company was clear – someone to whip these newcomers into shape. The respected and world travelled ring tactician has forgotten more about professional wrestling than someone like Lee Moriarty has learned. Tonight, he will look to prove that he takes on another recent addition to the AEW roster.
Bobby Fish Takes Moriarty To School
Moriarty didn’t get much of a reaction on his way to the ring, but things could change as the match started. Fish got a good pop, especially for using the reDRagon theme song. He has Danielson tomorrow, but can’t look past someone like Moriarty. They’d trade strikes to start, but Fish would catch one of the kicks of Moriarty that threw and take him down.
Moriarty would gain some control on the mat, before nearly ending up in a kneebar. Fish would find himself briefly in a chokehold, but worked his way out before rocking Moriarty with some strikes. Shoving Moriarty into the corner wouldn’t get much for Fish, as Moriarty fired up and looked for an arm breaker. Fish broke the attempt, but fell to a running crossbody. That more caught Fish off control, and a Dragon Screw into a sliding lariat would get Fish a two count – before a vaulting senton.
Fish was in complete control, just using Moriarty as a heavy bag. Moriarty would fight free to hit a flying uppercut, before sliding into a double stomp for a close fall. Fish nailed a head kick and a backdrop, dropping Moriarty on his head. The Fish Hook would land, but get only a two count. An exploder suplex into the ropes and a Buzzsaw Kick snuffed Moriarty out finally.
A hard hitting and fast paced match, which shows why signing Bobby Fish was such a great idea. He’s an incredible worker, who was able to really showcase the skills of Moriarty. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
