ESPN has removed Sage Steele from programming for a week after she made “controversial” comments while on a podcast with ex-NFL quarterback Jay Cutler. She spoke about how the ESPN vaccine mandate is “sick” and wasn’t surprised it got to this point because Disney is a global company.
Ironically, Steele received the shot because didn’t want to be removed from the programming.
“I respect everyone’s decision. I really do. But to mandate it is sick, and it’s scary to me in many ways. I’m not surprised it got to this point, especially with Disney. I mean, a global company like that.”

ESPN Removes Sage Steele After ‘Controversial’ Remarks While On Jay Cutler’s Podcast
To further add fuel to the fire, they mentioned Conversative show host Candace Owens and that she and Jay Cutler both respect her. Just mentioning a Conservative like that and saying you respect them is a death sentence in itself, though they joked around about the nurse that gave Steele her shot that they probably made it hurt on purpose because Steele reminded her of Owens.
Up until now, I don’t think anything she’s said is controversial until we get to the Obama thing, which is still questionable. In one of the clips, she talks about Obama identifying as black even though he’s mixed and was raised by his mother and grandmother who were white. This takes things in a new direction and out of context sounds completely ignorant and questionable. You’d have to watch the full podcast to find the context.
Naturally, people are coming for Steele’s head as she’s said some things people don’t agree with (which is the rational response, right?) and are calling for her to be terminated.
As it stands, she has the one-week suspension, so we’ll have to see what comes out of it. If they choose to get rid of her because of this, AFTER she even FOLLOWED the rules and got the vaccine, it’ll be interesting to see the response.
What do you think? Will Urban Meyer be fired from the Jacksonville Jaguars after this and does he have any shot of coaching anywhere else? Let us know in the comments below.
