At NXT Takeover 36, the reign of WALTER as NXT UK Champion would finally come to an end as Ilja Dragunov was able to choke him out. This was one of the best reigns in terms of match quality that WWE ever had, as WALTER is simply one of their best talents. However, he’s been missing from TV – not showing up on NXT 2.0 or NXT UK since that loss. Fans might have a clue of his next moves however, as he is set to work some Smackdown House Shows on the upcoming UK tour.
WALTER To Work A Trio Of Smackdown House Shows In November
From November 7th to November 9th, WALTER has been advertised for Smackdown Live events during WWE’s upcoming tour in the United Kingdom, starting in Liverpool on the 7th, then heading to Leeds on the 8th and Nottingham on the 9th. Local advertisements featured another surprise being RAW Superstar Finn Balor. Balor is also expected to be on a Smackdown show on November 10th in Manchester.
In the past, WALTER has worked main roster house shows, even having previously defended the WWE NXT UK Championship against R-Truth & Pete Dunne on them. Without a belt, we can expect him to be in exhibition style matches. It’s unclear who WALTER will have as an opponent on these events, but a trio of matches against Finn Balor would be a treat for anyone who has tickets.
A Great Potential Fit Into The Vision Of Smackdown Live
While it’s not unusual for WWE to bring someone like WALTER onto a tour like this, with Aleister Black once being the extra attraction during his time in NXT – it’s notable as WALTER has been missing from TV for months now. He’s been mentioned on both NXT UK and NXT 2.0, but there has been no sign of him, even when Fabian Aichner & Marcel Bartel won the NXT Tag Team Championships at Halloween Havoc.
WWE might be working on bringing him onto the Smackdown Live brand, where he would be a worthy opponent for both Roman Reigns & Drew McIntyre, and overall has the aura to become an instant top name on the brand. Smackdown is seemingly being built up as a heavyweight centric show in their singles division, with names like Ridge Holland & Top Dolla expected to join the mix very soon. WALTER would fit in perfectly there, and perhaps be the best fit of all.
