This Thursday at WWE Crown Jewel, we will see the first ever Queen’s Crown Tournament come to its end. Finally getting their own variant of King of The Ring is something that the women’s division in WWE has been wanting for years. This was a chance to let the women who aren’t in title hunts shine, and show their skills. A chance for them to rise up the card – provided WWE gave them enough time, which with how much TV time is on offer would be easy, right?
WWE Didn’t Give The Queen’s Crown Tournament Enough Time
WWE barely gave the women 12 minutes over the six tournament matches that led the finals. All the while, both of Finn Balor’s matches in the King of The Ring tournament. His matches with Cesaro and Sami Zayn were both around 11 minute and 25 seconds long. Obviously, Finn Balor is someone who deserves good match times in WWE – but for him to have the entire time that the Queens Crown tournament got in his first match essentially? It shows a serious issue.
Breaking the numbers right down, Zelina Vega & Toni Storm got 2 minutes and 13 seconds. Carmella & Liv Morgan got 1 minute and 33 seconds. Shayna Baszler & Dana Brooke got 1 minute and 22 seconds. Doudrop & Natalya had the longest match, at 2 minutes and 59 seconds. Zelina Vega & Carmella got 2 minutes and 41 second – and Shayna Baszler vs. Doudrop got 2 minutes and 46 seconds. This all adds up to just 12 minutes and 14 seconds.
They Had Two Big Female Main Events – But Is That Good Enough?
One common reflection that WWE fans have against the backlash to this, is that WWE in the same time had two lengthy main event matches on RAW & Smackdown from the top stars of their women’s division. While this is true, and that is a step in the right direction – it’s not good enough.
When WWE has 5 hours of TV between RAW & Smackdown, it’s not enough to give a mere 12 minutes and 14 seconds over the span of two weeks and six different matches. It shows that WWE really didn’t want to put the effort into this tournament, merely just wanting to make another moment for their women’s division.
Does WWE actually need to put some focus on their women who aren’t common title holders? Will the match at Crown Jewel make this all worth it? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
