We’re just a few weeks away from the return of WWE to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Crown Jewel is always a big show, and this time is no exception – however the best commentator WWE has around will not be around for the show. Pat McAfee of the Smackdown Live commentary team will not be taking the trip.
Pat McAfee Wasn’t Invited To Crown Jewel
While speaking on the Pat McAfee show, he’d reveal that he wasn’t even invited – and doesn’t mind.
“Yeah, WWE is heading over there. I wasn’t invited. It’s a real shame. Good luck. I’m not gonna be a part of that. Hey listen, I’m not supposed to be a part of that. I’m happy I’m not going or whatever. But I don’t know how that whole thing plays out 10 years, 20 years from now, looking back on it. But the shows, everybody said it is insane over there. It’s awesome. Until they got stuck there, and then I got to call Buffalo SmackDown.”
He was referring to the NXT invasion of Smackdown Live, which led to Adam Cole defending the NXT Championship against Daniel Bryan. It was possibly one of the greatest episodes of Smackdown in the show’s life, and shows how good WWE is when thinking on their feet.
Crown Jewel Is Looking Like A Wrestlemania Quality Card
The card for Crown Jewel is still building up, but is looking good. We have Brock Lesnar facing off with Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, with the extra drama of Paul Heyman now playing both sides. Becky Lynch will defend the Smackdown Women’s Championship against both Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair – which could be spoiled by Lynch being on Monday Night RAW’s roster after the draft.
We have the finals of both the Queens Crown & King of The Ring tournaments, which should be basic but exciting matches which will give some insight into who will be getting more focus in the coming year. Edge & Seth Rollins meet in Hell in a Cell to finish up their feud. Bobby Lashley & Goldberg have a No DQ match, and Big E defends the WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre.
