Hollywood actor Denzel Washington has spoken on how he is still struggling to come to terms with the death of his mother Lennis Washington.
Denzel Washington Admits He Is Struggling To Deal With His Mother’s Death-I ‘Didn’t Cry At Her Funeral’
Lennis had died in June of this year at the age of 97. While she was around to see her son become one of the most talked-about actors in the world, the very fact that she is not around anymore is something that Denzel has continued to struggle with.
This is specifically true, as she was one of the crucial members in making sure that he managed to pursue his dream of acting. She managed to keep Denzel away from the wrong crowd, which allowed him to focus on what he wanted to do.
And that is something that he will always remember. In an interview on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ Denzel said: “A mother is a son’s first true love.
“A son, especially that first son, is a mother’s last true love. She was there for everything, and she went home.” And emotions began to run very high after the talk show host, shared a picture of Denzel and his mother together.
In the picture, we can see that Denzel is next to his mother as well as his wife Pauletta. They could not be any happier given that Denzel is holding an Oscar, which he had picked up for being the best supporting actor in ‘Glory.’
That is why he started to cry at the picture, as it reminded him of some of the happiest moments in his life. He added: “This is terrible! And [I] didn’t cry at her funeral.”
Given that we are living in a time where the pandemic has disrupted the livelihoods of many people across the globe, both in terms of a financial scale as well as on a health basis, Denzel urged people to come together to remember their loved ones before it is too late.
His following comments confirmed as much: “Hug [and] love [your close ones].” Denzel has shown a lot of courage, especially given the pain that he is currently going through.
