In order to appease Prince Harry’s demands the BBC changed the second part of the documentary ‘The Princes and the Press,’ which explored Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship with the British press. After Prince Harry allegedly had a fit over the supposedly misogynistic term, ‘Megxit,’ the BBC folded like a house of cards and edited the documentary.
How The Royal Family Feel About BBC’s Recent Documentary
The Royal Family made it clear that they were dissatisfied with the BBC’s recent documentary. This is a two-part documentary; the first portion aired last week, and the second part is set to run on Monday, November 29th.
BBC In A Bid To Appease Prince Harry Changes The Second Part Of The Royal Documentary
The press impact on the lives of the two princes, Prince Harry and Prince William, is what this documentary focuses on as well as aims to track the pressure the brothers are still under from the media, as well as how they use it as a tool at their disposal.
The premiere has worsened the divide between the BBC and the Firm, with the second apparently threatening to prohibit the network as the royals were not shown a preview before the film aired. Meghan Markle’s husband, Prince Harry was dissatisfied with parts of the series’ material and used his leverage to have it modified.
This series focuses on the circumstances surrounding the choice of the Sussexes to step aside from their top royal posts.
The Duke Refers To A Part Of The Documentary As Misogynistic
According to Express UK, the BBC has agreed to at least one request from Prince Harry, even changing the documentary’s second portion before it aired. After the Duke of Sussex objected to it being misogynistic and alleged it was made by a troll.
Allegedly, Prince Harry threw a fit and the term “Megxit” was omitted from the film to symbolize Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from their royal obligations and relocation to the United States. The term was changed to ‘Sussexit,’ as requested by the Prince.
The British Royal Family went so far as to issue a rare statement in response to the documentary’s content: “A free, responsible, and open press is of vital importance to a healthy democracy. However, too often it is overblown and unfounded claims from unnamed sources that are presented as facts and it is disappointing when anyone, including the BBC, gives them credibility.”
