Caleb Kennedy, who was best known for being on ‘American Idol’, has reportedly been arrested on the grounds of driving under influence and killing someone in the ensuing accident.
Former American Idol Contestant Caleb Kennedy Arrested For DUI And Killing Someone In The Process
According to reports, the incident was alleged to have occurred near Palmetto Hills Golf Club, South Carolina. But to make matters even worse, it is alleged that someone had died as a result of the offence.
In an official statement given by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a representative said: “A 2011 Ford pickup was traveling North on West Murph Road when the vehicle traveled onto a private drive … and struck a building.
“A person inside the building sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.” If these comments are taken to be true, then it is significant for the following reason.
First of all, it is clear that Caleb would find it very hard to bounce back from this and make a career in the music industry.
After all, people are not going to want to associate with someone that has killed someone as a result of negligence, both through the fans as well as music executives.
Secondly, there is also the question of how hefty the punishment is going to be given that someone has died. And by the looks of it, Caleb has already suffered some punishment.
The representative added: “[Caleb] has been charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death.” But it is not just this incident that has tarnished Caleb’s reputation.
His time on American Idol had also come to an abrupt end when a video of him had surfaced which was alleged to have shown Caleb standing next to someone that was wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood.
While Caleb Kennedy did recognize that it was a mistake, the very fact of the matter is that the damage had been done. In a statement at the time, he remarked: “Hey y’all, this is gonna be a bit of a surprise, but I am no longer gonna be on American Idol.
“There was a video that surfaced on the internet and it displayed actions that were not meant to be taken in that way. I was younger and did not think about the actions, but that’s not an excuse.”
