The talk show host received a huge amount backlash after she compared Adolf Hitler‘s role in the Holocaust, as not being based on race but rather evil motivation.
And given that a reported 6 million Jewish people had suffered, it was not surprising that she had to suffer consequences as a result. But rather than lose her job permanently, it looks as though she has done her time.
And by the looks of it, she was happy to get back to what she does best. In the episode of her return, she said: “Hello, hello, hello and welcome to The View.
“And yes, I am back…I missed you all too. I got to tell you, there’s something kind of marvelous about being on a show like this.”
Although she did make a return, Whoopi was understandably very quiet about discussing the controversial nature of her suspension. And yet, she did make it clear that she had a period to do some soul-searching and learn from her mistakes.
In this way, she managed to listen to the criticism that was coming her way and take it on board as a way to come back stronger. And in the process of doing so, she thanked all her fans who reached out to make sure that she was fine.
She added: “I listened to everything everybody had to say and I was very grateful and I hope it keeps all the important conversations happening because we’re going to keep having tough conversations.”
However, not everybody was satisfied by her return. A small section of people felt that she did not give a genuine apology, as she refused to discuss why she was wrong. Thus, it made no sense for her to return as it showed a lack of remorse.
One person wrote: “I won’t watch again as long as she has her job. In fact, I just changed channels that she was not up to the standards of the other talk shows throughout the Network.”
