Right now in WWE, morale is in the pits following a disastrous Royal Rumble event. The combination of plans changing many times, and Brock Lesnar winning were a one-two punch that the roster really felt. Now, we can add another issue to the mix – as another part time talent has stepped into the mix again. Goldberg is back in WWE once again, and we all know who’s next.
Roman Reigns Has Been Set To Face Goldberg For Years Now
There has been one match that WWE has been trying to get off the ground for years now, and that is Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns. It was originally set for Wrestlemania 36, but Reigns pulled out of that event due to health concerns. Instead, Braun Strowman stepped into the fray – and beat Goldberg to claim his only run as WWE Universal Champion.
Since then, Goldberg has shown up to battle with the likes of Drew McIntyre & Bobby Lashley – but with one match left on his WWE contract, it’s time to face The Tribal Chief. This feud is expected to kick off tonight on Smackdown Live – and see Goldberg challenge Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia.
Will WWE Try For A New Deal With Goldberg Following This Final Match?
It’s no secret that Goldberg is not getting any younger. He’s went on record stating he’s been working through some nagging injuries, waiting until his WWE contract is done before finally tackling them. This match with Roman Reigns will end his contract, and finally give Goldberg this chance.
However, WWE will likely still see a lot of value in being able to call upon this legend in times of need. A new contract is likely to be offered to Goldberg following this upcoming clash, which will put the ball back in his court. There is a lot of money to be made with a new contract, and a chance to join his son Gage as he becomes a WWE superstar as well.
