Last week, Carmelo Hayes faced Cameron Grimes as he defended the NXT North American Championship, and stole the show. Now, Pete Dunne has stepped up looking for a shot to finally win the belt he’s been chasing since Ricochet was champ. However, Cameron Grimes isn’t done with Hayes yet either, and attacked Hayes mid-promo. Now, we have a match with Trick Williams and Cameron Grimes.
Cameron Grimes Defeats Trick Williams, Carmelo Hayes Set To Face Pete Dunne Next Week
This match started during the commercial break, and Williams was quickly sent to the outside. Hayes tried to hype Williams up, but he went back into the ring and got a boot to the face. Grimes was kicking the taller Williams down to size with one strike after another, before Williams would fire back with a leaping lariat.
Williams stomped Grimes out before a lariat in the corner before near fall. Maintaining control, Williams would lock up the arm of Grimes on the mat. During this match, Pete Dunne vs. Carmelo Hayes was made official for next week’s episode of NXT 2.0 – and Grimes regained control of this match with a rushing boot.
Grimes would hit the swinging side slam for a near fall before looking for Cave In. Williams fled to the outside where Grimes followed and hit a superkick. Back in the ring, the crossbody landed – and finally the Cave-In took Williams down once and for all.
Nikita Lyons Makes Her Debut
For weeks now, Nikita Lyons has been hyping up her in-ring debut on NXT 2.0, and tonight this promising star finally gets the spotlight. She’s had some ring time on 205 Live, but tonight it’s the big time for Lyons. Kayla Inlay was her opponent for this match.
Lyons grabbed the wristlock to start this match, with Inlay able to fight free. A leg kick would stagger Inlay before she was able to block the German Suplex. Lyons would get a near fall off the Sunset Flip, before a forearm smash. Inlay was dropped with a spin kick before a split legdrop for the victory.
Solo Sikoa Saves Malcolm Bivens
The Creed Brothers were able to shut down MSK last week, and won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in the process. This means they get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Champions, and tonight they have a chance to let loose and celebrate. Malcolm Bivens would take a shot right at Imperium, calling their athletic prowess a sham. However, The Creed Brothers are the real deal – while Imperium are just hiding behind GUNTHER.
Not to take this disrespect, GUNTHER & Imperium would hit the ring – and made it clear that Aichner & Bartel intend to remain champions. A brawl broke out – and GUNTHER signalled out Bivens. Solo Sikoa made the save, and laid out GUNTHER with a superkick – setting up their coming match.
First Semi-Finals Match Set For Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
After The Creed Brothers won the Men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic for Diamond Mine, the pressure was placed onto Ivy Nile to do the same for the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Teaming up with Diamond Mine prospect Tatum Paxley, they will face the only returning team from the 2021 tournament, the fast paced duo of Kayden Carter & Kacy Catanzaro.
Paxley would kick off the match with Carter, and got tripped up. Carter nailed a springboard dropkick before Catanzaro hit a twisting splash for a two count. Nile would tag in and take control of the match with some quick strikes, before Catanzaro broke free and got the tag.
Carter would roll Nile into a kick, before Diamond Mine hit a modified Magic Killer for a two count. Paxley would be isolated after Nile was sent outside, and a Neckbreaker – 450 Splash combo ended this one. After the match, NIle took out Paxley with a dragon sleeper, and Roderick Strong watched it happen.
