WWE Smackdown Results returned as Drew Gulak continuing his new role as commentator introduced Charlotte Flair after he expressed interest in his new position.

He asked her about last week when she declined a rematch against Ronda Rousey but the front office made the match anyway.

Flair said she didn’t refuse the match, she was looking after Rousey because she can’t handle losing like she did at WrestleMania 35.

    .@MsCharlotteWWE uses @DrewGulak as an example, sending @RondaRousey a message! #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/voY5HvUgLT

    — WWE (@WWE) April 16, 2022

Gulak reminded her it looked like she tapped out to Rousey and she told the fans she was fixing her bra.

He pointed out had the referee been in position, Rousey would be champion now, and she told him he’s out of line and she didn’t tap out.

She then asked Gulak if he quit being a competitor to hold a mic and ask her stupid questions, and then said he’s used to quitting like the fans in attendance.

Flair told him to leave her ring, then hit him with a chop block and locked in a figure 8. He tapped out in seconds and she mocked him for being a quitter while she kept him locked in.

Adam Pearce caught up with Zayn backstage and told him he’ll face McIntyre in a Lumberjack Match. Better than the steel cage we were thinking.

    Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn

On his way to the ring, Zayn complained about the perception of his running away during their match last week and claimed he’s not afraid of anything or anyone.

It’s all part of a master plan.

When the be rang, Zayn ducked out of the ring and McIntyre caught him and bounced him between the barricade and ring.

Zayn then climbed over the announce table and tried to hide behind McAfee, but that didn’t work.

Zayn raked McIntyre’s eyes and hammered on him, and McIntyre mauled him.

McIntyre went for a Claymore but Zayn ducked out of the ring once, and then a second time for a count out loss.

    Anyone not expect this?

After the match, McIntyre chased after him through the stands.

Intercontinental Championship – Ricochet (c) vs. Jinder Mahal w/Shanky

With the #ICTitle on the line, @KingRicochet will do whatever it takes to retain against @JinderMahal on #SmackDown! pic.twitter.com/iBQyuyT55Z

    — WWE (@WWE) April 16, 2022

Mahal started it out by hammering on Ricochet and hit a slam for a near pinfall.

Ricochet fought back with a kick, dropkick, and a standing moonsault for a pin attempt.

Ricochet hit a Recoil, then went to the top rope but Shanky pulled Mahal out. So, Ricochet took them both out with a dive.

    — Sheamus (@WWESheamus) April 16, 2022

Back in the ring, Ricochet hit a 450 splash for the win. We love Ricochet, but this wasn’t a believable win at all. There should have been a lot more to this match.

After Ridge Holland and Sheamus lost track of Butch, he attacked the New Day as they were signing pictures.

Sheamus and Holland arrived to break it up.

    Lacey’s next chapter

Lacey Evans shared the next chapter of her life and how her father tracked them down after her mom tried to take them away from him.

She talked about how he’d lash out if the food wasn’t right, and he was eventually a wanted man and they were on the run from state to state.

In an honest and inspiring message, @LaceyEvansWWE reveals how she learned to keep her head up and keep fighting.#SmackDown pic.twitter.com/9VCB3hRwTI

    — WWE (@WWE) April 16, 2022

She added how it inspired her to improve her life to what it is now, but it doesn’t make her any better than the other WWE superstars.

Shayna Baszler and Natalya watched it on tv and Natalya mocked her and wondered what was happening, and Raquel Rodrigues introduced herself.

Natalya welcomed her and then they hurried out.

Riddle w/Randy Orton vs. Jimmy Uso w/Jey Uso

Riddle went after Jimmy with a take down and some knees followed by an RKP attempt, but Jimmy slipped free and went to the floor to regroup.

    He got him!!!#SmackDown @SuperKingofBros @WWEUsos @RandyOrton pic.twitter.com/zl2ffPCenW

    — WWE (@WWE) April 16, 2022

Jimmy took control after jumping Riddle when they went back into the ring, and it spilled to the floor where Jimmy bounced him off the ring steps and superkicked him over the barricade as we headed to commercial.

Riddle came back and hit a German suplex with a bridge for a pin attempt. Jimmy responded with a pop up Samoan Drop for a near pinfall.

On the floor, Jey jawed with Orton and Jimmy hit a baseball slide. Jimmy hit a superkick for a pin attempt but Orton distracted the ref and suplexed Jey onto the announce table.

Riddle avoided an Uso Splash and countered a popup move with an RKO for the win.

This was a pretty good match and injected some energy into the show that was missing since their opening promo exchange fell flat.
