It appears that Andy Dick won’t be dealing with court appearances after the alleged victim in his felony sexual assault arrest stopped cooperating with police. On May 11, 2022, the comedian and roast veteran was arrested after his accuser claimed that Dick had assaulted him at the O’Neill Regional Park. At the time, Dick was there as part of the Captain Content RV YouTube channel. His arrest and the investigation that followed were captured on stream.
Andy Dick Avoids Court and Charges After Alleged Sexual Assault Victim Stops Working with Police
Without the cooperation of the alleged victim, the investigation has ground to a halt. Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Steinle said of the investigation:
“The case is not proceeding forward due to the fact that the victim is being uncooperative.”
Apparently, the case landed on the desk of prosecutors but was bounced back to the sheriff’s office because it was light on evidence. With the alleged victim—a fellow live streamer JJ— ending cooperation, law enforcement has their hands tied on pushing forward with charges against Andy Dick.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office has said that the investigation will be picked up if JJ is open to working with them again:
“If, at any time, the victim does decide that they would like to cooperate, then we would be happy to resume the investigation. But without that individual cooperation, there’s not much to go on.”
In the above video, JJ comes into a room where Dick is relaxing and questions him as to why the comedian assaulted him in his sleep. Dick replied, “I never assaulted you in your sleep. Can you leave me alone?” Andy Dick’s bail was set at $25,000 but he was released after covering 10-percent of it. Captain Content would speak on the situation and his role in it saying that at the time, he believed JJ based on his past experiences with both men:
“Based on my experience, knowing JJ for a year, hanging hanged out for a couple of months–he’s been living in my RV. Knowing JJ for this amount of time, knowing Andy Dick for the amount of time I’ve known them, I am prone to believe…that…something happened when JJ passed out in Andy Dick’s RV. And it was non-consensual. Yeah. I do believe that JJ was probably touched in intimate areas non-consensually.”
