Baltimore Ravens player Jaylon Ferguson died on June 21, 2022, yet his cause of death is still something of a mystery. Currently, the Baltimore PD is looking at overdose as a possible cause. News of his death was confirmed by Ravens.
Baltimore Ravens Player Jaylon Ferguson Dead at 26 – “Possibility of Overdose” Being Looked at During Investigation
Police were notified of a “questionable death” Tuesday night at around 11:25 PM. When they arrived at the residence, Ferguson was receiving medical treatment. According to police, the player “never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on the scene by medics.”
When the new first broke, the police didn’t suspect foul play as there were no signs of trauma to the body. The Baltimore PD would release no further details surrounding Ferguson’s death besides “not ruling out the possibility of an overdose.”
The Baltimore Ravens would issue a statement on the young player’s death both on the team’s official site and on Twitter:
“We are profoundly saddened by the passing of Jaylon Ferguson. He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon.”
A former player at Louisiana Tech, Ferguson would achieve 45 career sacks becoming the NCAA Division I-A sack leader. He was selected by the Ravens during the third round of the 2019 Draft. He made his NFL debut against the Kansas City Chiefs in September of that year and would go on to play a total of 67 games in the NFL.
Fans and players are currently paying their respects to Ferguson. At the time of his death, he was 26 years old.
