Right now injuries are seemingly coming left and right in professional wrestling. We can now add four more men to the list, all from the roster of New Japan Pro Wrestling. Yuto Nakashima, Alex Coughlin, YOH, and DOUKI have all been pulled from upcoming shows due to injury and illness.

NJPW Details The Status Of Four Men

NJPW would reveal this news in a post to NJPW1972.com. They would post the following.

“We regret to inform that the following four wrestlers will not be cleared to participate in their upcoming matches in Korakuen Hall on the New Japan Road tour.

Alex Coughlin has sustained an injury to his left calf muscle.

YOH has returned a positive COVID test, and has been self isolating. YOH is cleared to return on July 5, and his NEVER 6 Man Tag Team Championship match is unaffected.

DOUKI has been ruled a close contact with a COVID infected party, and will self isolate.

Yuto Nakashima has sustained a left elbow injury.”

The most worrying of these injuries is that of Yuto Nakashima, as his left elbow was injured during his first match – costing him precious months of progress. Another injury to the same location so soon after his first recovery causes some great concern, and could potentially bring his promising career to an abrupt and early end.

A Mystery Name To Appear On Shows

NJPW would announce replacements, with Yuji Nagata and a mystery man filling in for matches containing Nakashima & Coughlin. TAKA Michinoku will be filling in for many of DOUKI’s matches, and will also wrestle the mystery opponent on July 4th in a singles match. There’s already speculation on who this mystery name could be, with names from AEW or even a new Young Lion making their debut in the place of Nakashima.

YOH will be back for his match alongside YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto to challenge for the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championships on July 5th. YOSHI-HASHI & Goto will appear on AEW Rampage tonight, wrestling The Young Bucks in a non-title match.

We here at TheOvertimer wish YOH & DOUKI the best of health, and hope for speedy recoveries for both Coughlin & Nakashima. Who do you think the mystery name will be? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
