Hello and welcome to WWE Smackdown Live Results!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuG_TOtBEfc
We’re all set for Smackdown’s SummerSlam Go Home Episode, and it looks like it’s going to be a rehashing of the last couple of weeks with more promised violence, which is expected as it was probably given the green light previously.
It should be interesting to see how things turn out and what changes are made in Triple H’s first time running Smackdown.
We’ll be back to kick WWE Smackdown Live Results into gear at the 8 p.m. EST.
Segment 1
Old Fashioned Donnybrook – Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus
For the second show they started with a fight as Sheamus attacked Drew during the introductions, and they held nothing back as Drew threw Sheamus into the barricade, ring post, and a barrel as we headed to commercial.
Segment 2
Drew hit a Future Shock DDT on a stack of chairs for a near pinfall, but Ridge Holland him him from behind and Sheamus nailed a Brogue Kick for his own close win.
Drew then sent Ridge into the ring post and suplexed him through a table at ringside as we headed to commercial.
Segment 3
This was a pay-per-view caliber match Drew won with a Claymore after he survived a Brogue Kick. After the match, Theory attacked Drew and beat him down with the MITB briefcase.
Segment 4
Corbin arrived and sat behind McAfee after buying a ticket and showered him with popcorn between taunts. After security arrived, Corbin split McAfee’s uprights with good form. He should’ve been a kicker too.
Segment 5
Shotzi vs. Aliyah
This was a quick but fun match as Shotzi was on fire from the start, and ended it with a Never Wake Up for the win.
Segment 6
Ronda Rousey and Liv Morgan vs. Natalya and Sonya Deville
This started out with everyone looking for an advantage until Natalya took it to Liv and hit a suplex on the floor as we headed to commercial.
Segment 7
There was some great storytelling in this as Liv refused to tag out a couple of times to prove a point, but eventually Ronda came in and she scored the submission win on Deville via an ankle lock.
Segment 8
Jeff Jarrett told the Usos and Street Profits to get it out of their systems, and during the brawl, Ford ducked a superkick from Jey and Jey dropped Jarrett.
Despite apologizing, Jarret shoved the Usos off and Dawkins sent them to the floor and Ford his a swanton.
Segment 9
The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods) vs. The Viking Raiders (Erik, Ivar)
After an early back and forth, Ivar pulled Kofi to the floor by his hair and then hit a crossbody against the barricade as we headed to commercial.
Segment 10
This was a good match that ended with a double powerbomb on Kofi, but then they knocked out Woods with a shield shot, then put a chair on his previously injured leg and slammed their shields on it.
Segment 11
After Paul Heyman talked about Roman Reigns ending Brock Lesnar once and for all, Lesnar came out. Theory Attacked Lesnar from behind with the MITB briefcase, and Lesnar took it and beat him down and suplexed him to the floor where McIntyre nailed Theory with a Claymore to close out the show.
This was the best Smackdown we’ve seen in a few years, and it had the energy we expected Triple H’s presence and guidance to bring to Raw. It felt fresh and new, with matches allowed to play out instead of being cut short or end on gimmicks for no reason.
What did you think about it? Let us know in the comments below and thank you for joining WWE Smackdown Live Results. We had a blast and can’t wait to see you all next week.
