Monica Lewinsky has asked Beyonce to remove her name from her 2013 hit ‘Partition’ after the singer has agreed to nix other offensive lyrics from her new album, ‘Renaissance’. Beyonce was recently slammed for using the word ‘spaz’ in one of her new songs. After much backlash for offending those with disabilities, she decided to remove the term from the lyrics altogether. Now, Monica Lewinsky wants Beyonce to remove a lewd reference about her from one of her old tracks.
It’s no secret that Monica Lewinsky’s name has been tarnished by scandal ever since her romp with former president Bill Clinton was exposed to the world. While Lewinsky has been on the receiving end of countless jabs for her part in the dalliance, she’s long been tired of jokes being made at her expense.
Monica Lewinsky Asks Beyonce To Remove Lewd Reference About Her From 2013 Song ‘Partition’
Beyonce addressed Lewinsky by name in the lyrics of ‘Partition’, saying, “He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/He Monica Lewinsky’d all on my gown”. As many know, Beyonce is taking a shot at Clinton’s bodily fluids being found on Lewinsky’s stained blue dress.
Lewinsky recently took to Twitter to air out her grievances with the played-out pop culture reference. In her tweet, she posted a headline that said ‘Beyonce to Remove Renaissance Lyrics After Outrage: Abelist, Offensive’ along with the caption ‘Uhmm, while we’re at it…#Partition”. But once again, it was Monica who got taken to task for her simple request. Beyonce’s fans, commonly referred to as the ‘Beyhive’, were quick to slam Lewinsky’s suggestion.
“Rap song muse is in your bio. You like the references. Only relevance you have as of lately,” said one Twitter user while another one noted, “It’s a 10-year-old song and the answer is NO.”
Others argued that Lewinsky even went as far as thanking Beyonce in a 2014 piece she penned for Vanity Fair, saying, “Miley Cyrus references me in her twerking stage act, Eminem raps about me, and Beyoncé’s latest hit gives me a shout-out. Thanks, Beyoncé.” Lewinsky also corrected the singer’s word choice for the song, saying, “but if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d.”
Once her Tweet went viral, Lewinsky clarified that she was onlying trying to ‘find humor in painful/humiliating things’ while explaining that she had not formally reached out to Beyonce or her team to get the lyric canned.
