Law & Order SVU’s new season is in production. Rumors emerge that the 24th season of the show will feature the high-profile Depp vs Heard defamation trial. The trial gained worldwide attention and as such, a show made according to it would definitely be successful.
At the moment this is not backed up by an official statement from the producers. However, some photos of scenes that leaked have an obvious resemblance to the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial.
The Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard Trial Will Be Featured On ‘Law&Order SVU’ Season
In the production photos, we can see how Captain Liv Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is escorting a young woman down the stairs of a courtroom while people chant and hold signs around them. To make things even more obvious, the signs read slogans like “I stand with Kelsey”, and “Team Austin”.
This seems like an incredibly close re-creation of an Amber Heard scene when she was escorted down the stairs of a courtroom. We’ve definitely seen this before. For the resemblance to be even greater, Goldani Telles seems to have an outfit quite similar to what Amber was dressing for her court appearances.
The final hint that completely clears out the situation is the synopsis for the episode. “Capt. Benson and her NYPD squad fight for justice in cases ripped straight from the headlines.”
The original Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard court case launched back in April this year. The allegations were that the latter, Amber Heard defamed her ex-husband by portraying herself as a victim of domestic violence, when in fact she was the aggressor in the relationship. Amber Heard featured in an op-ed article in the Washington Post. There, she claimed that she is a victim of domestic and sexual violence.
After six long and contentful weeks, the verdict of the trial came in Johnny Depp’s favor. Amber purposely featured in such an article with one goal only – to defame Depp.
If you think that this is the end of it, you are completely wrong. The couple is still making headlines even months after the trial. The unsealed documents of the trial leaked and reveal some unthinkable things about both Johnny and Amber. There were nude photos, there were text messages with disturbing content, etc. In addition to this, to prolong their time in the limelight, Amber is not appealing the verdict with a new legal team.
Law and Order SVU usually portrays sexual and domestic violence survivors as victims that receive treatment with compassion and dignity. How will they play out this particular case – we will most certainly see.
