Eight man action will kick off the evening here tonight in Osaka. As the G1 wears on, some contenders may be falling by the wayside, like Tomohiro Ishii – while the likes of David Finlay are soaring higher than anyone ever expected. Tonight, Ishii & Finlay will team up with Tama Tonga & Ryohei Oiwa to face down EVIL, Chase Owens, Yujiro Takahashi & SHO – all of BULLET CLUB.
Chase Owens & Tomohiro Ishii Preview Tomorrows Block Match
Finlay would kick things off with Yujiro, the only man to hold a win over him the tournament thus far. SHO would grab the hair of Finlay and allow for Yujiro to gain control, before Yujiro was used as a weapon to send him from the apron. Tama would get the tag, but Yujiro would bite his thumb before he was thrown into the exposed steel of the BULLET CLUB corner – a scheme completed by EVIL & Dick Togo.
EVIL would get a two count off a slam, before SHO would tear at the eyes. Oiwa hit the ring to make the save, and was dropped by a forearm smash. Owens would strike away at Tama, but just served to fire him up as he hit a big lariat. Ishii got the tag and the strikes only got worse for Owens, as Ishii single handedly was able to fight off the opposing team.
A backdrop suplex would be blocked, and we’d see the offence of Owens on display – as he was able to take the fight to Ishii, hitting a Russian Leg Sweep into the corner and some quick kicks. We will see them meet in singles action tomorrow night. SHO would get the tag, and Ishii drove him down with a shoulder tackle.
Oiwa would get the tag, and looked for the Gutwrench Suplex on SHO. SHO would be taken into the Boston Crab, and the crowd was hot for him to tap out, but Oiwa wouldn’t get the win tonight. Cross armbreaker was applied, and SHO would show Oiwa what a real submission can do – and forced the submission victory.
Aaron Henare Takes Royce Isaacs To The Streets Of Rage
Tom Lawlor is set to face Jeff Cobb to finish his tournament on August 14th – and tonight gets an important chance to test the waters, to see if he’d like to take a Tour of the Islands. It’s tag team action, and Royce Isaacs & a pissed off Aaron Henare round out the ring for this one.
Henare & Isaacs would kick things off with a sprawl on the mat, before Henare forced Isaacs into the corner for some elbow strikes. A knee to the face would stagger Henare, before he’d be driven into the Team Filthy corner. Lawlor would set up the Russian Leg Sweep and hoped Isaacs would hit the lariat, but Cobb pulled Isaacs to the floor.
United Empire would beat down Lawlor in a two on one attack, before Lawlor would trade strikes in the middle of the ring with Henare. He’d manage to take Henare to the floor and locked in an armbar, but Cobb was quick on the save.
Isaacs would pull Lawlor to the corner for the tag, and nailed a backdrop driver on Henare. It’s a clear sign of tag team excellence from one half of the West Coast Wrecking Crew, a team many hope to see in World Tag League later this year. Henare would hit the Rampage Tackle, before looking for Ultima. Isaacs would block into a roll up, but couldn’t get three. Streets Of Rage would land – and this was over.
KENTA Is A Best Selling Author Now
Tetsuya Naito & KENTA will always have their issues, and they might in Hiroshima on Tuesday in Block action. Before then, they will meet in six man tag team action. BUSHI & SANADA will back Naito up, while KENTA has brought Bad Luck Fale & Juice Robinson to the fight – and BULLET CLUB could use a big show of force tonight. Naito scored a big and essential win against Henare last night
Before the match, KENTA would try to bribe Naito with a copy of his new autobiography, and Naito would ask for an autograph. They’d ask for a pen, and KENTA would sign it for him – and it was very exciting for Naito. Upon getting this book, he’d throw it away – to the dismay of KENTA.
Robinson & KENTA would work together to beat down Naito, before Fale stomped on Naito while reading the book. Fale would drop Naito with strikes, and his size almost ensured an easy pinfall. KENTA & Naito would meet in the ring with Naito hitting a DDT and tagging in SANADA. KENTA would be trapped in the Paradise Lock, and would be let free with a dropkick to the arse.
Robinson would get the tag, and BUSHI would follow. A DDT to Robinson would follow, before he was able to hit the spinebuster. Pulp Friction would be blocked as Naito made the save, but Robinson would remain legal alongside BUSHI -so it was only a matter of time before Left Hand of God & Pulp Friction got the win. After the match, KENTA stole back the signed copy of his book – but Naito got it back and tore up the bestseller.
The Top Dog Stares Down The Rainmaker
One year ago, Kazuchika Okada & Hiroshi Tanahashi were opponents in the EDION Arena in Osaka to start the tournament, but tonight the dream team faces down two hard hitters for tag team action. JONAH is on the path to face Okada in singles action tomorrow, and will get the ever important tag team preview here tonight. Bad Dude Tito also has a big chance tonight, as defeating Okada & Tanahashi would perhaps secure him his place in Japan for future tours.
JONAH & Okada would kick off the match, and Okada would have issues trying to take him down the mat with strikes or a powerslam. Bad Dude Tito & JONAH would work on Okada in the corner, before a snap suplex got a one count for Tito. Okada would be choked in the corner with the knee of JONAH, before he’d avoid the running senton.
Tanahashi would get the tag, and hit the Somersault Senton on Tito. Slingblade was blocked with a series of kicks, before the Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall. Okada would drop JONAH with a dropkick, before Tanahashi hit the slingblade and High Fly Flow on Tito for the win.
