Ricky Knight Jr. Defeats Will Ospreay To Claim Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship At RevPro Ten Year Anniversary

Earlier today, fans had a chance to celebrate ten years of Revolution Pro Wrestling, with a two day event. Some major matches would take place, but night two was particularly stacked, with a big defence of the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship capping off the night. With Will Ospreay as champion, and coming off a high profile match in the G1 Climax finals in NJPW – few expected to see a title change.

Ricky Knight Jr. Ends The 900+ Day Reign Of Ospreay

Coming into this event, Ospreay has been champion for 919 days – winning the belt from Zack Sabre Jr. during RevPro High Stakes 2020. Since then, Ospreay has done his best to pack in the defences, despite the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down shows. Seven successful defences, including one against opponent Ricky Knight Jr had Ospreay confident, but after 30 minutes of action, Ospreay was the one staring up at the lights.

Ricky Knight Jr. has been a rising star in the UK scene, being a member of the Knight family, who’s most famous member was Paige in WWE. At just 22 years old, he’s been proving his skills time and time again – and now gets to prove himself as a recognized World Champion. A family legacy can put the pressure on, but Knight Jr. has been proving to thrive under pressure.

Will Ospreay Needs Some Big Wins Soon

This was another major defeat for Will Ospreay, having failed to take down Kazuchika Okada to win the G1 Climax just days before. Better yet, another match lost due to Ospreay going for the One Winged Angel, and being unable to land the finisher of Kenny Omega. Trading words on social media for a while now, Ospreay & Omega have built up a feud – and are set to potentially meet in the ring in AEW, during the Trios Championship Tournament.

Alongside Aussie Open, Ospreay starts his tournament this coming Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. They will meet the trio of PAC, Rey Fenix & Penta Oscuro – with there being some bad blood between PAC & Ospreay to spice that match up. Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks already advanced, with Omega claiming the win in his return match this past Wednesday.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
