According to a report released on Thursday by National Records of Scotland, the record-breaking monarch passed away due to old age. On the recently made public document, the Queen’s passing was announced at 3:10 p.m on September 8. Princess Anne, the Queen’s daughter, is the person who reported the monarch’s demise. In an earlier statement, Anne wrote, “I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life.”
Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen’s death at the age of 96. The statement mentioned the monarch’s Scotland estate, Balmoral, where she usually spent the last few months of the summer: “The Queen passed away quietly at Balmoral this afternoon.”
Queen Eliabeth II Reportedly Died Of “Old Age”
Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth’s longtime partner who passed away at age 99 in April 2021, also passed away from old age. This was stated on his death certificate. The United Kingdom, where the Queen reigned for a record-breaking 70 years, was in mourning following her death. Many people were saddened by her death because they saw her as a stable presence amidst the turbulent, ever-changing times experienced by the world, especially by the people of the many nations that recognized her as their sovereign.
Her big family, which included her four daughters, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, felt the loss the most. Her oldest son King Charles III expressed his sorrow over the loss of his mother in a statement that was made public soon after the news of her passing. Prince William, 40, Prince Charles’ firstborn, is now the next in line to the throne, followed by Prince George, 9. The King, 73, stated in a statement released by Buckingham Palace that “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.”
He said, “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother.” “I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”
In his final statement, King Charles said, “During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.” Before her passing, Buckingham Palace released a statement stating that “the Queen’s doctors are concerned for her majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision,” adding that “the Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
After experiencing numerous health concerns for a year, the Queen passed away. She came out in October 2021 using a cane. She spent a night in the hospital in the same month and decided to forgo a planned vacation to Northern Ireland on the recommendation of her doctors. Due to a sprained back and the rise of COVID-19 cases during the holidays, Queen Elizabeth also chose not to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony in November. She also skipped the usual Christmas celebration at Sandringham with the royal family.
In February, she was found to have COVID-19. According to Buckingham Palace, she was still performing light responsibilities while being watched for minor cold-like symptoms. Two days before she passed away, on September 6, the Queen named Liz Truss as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
The following day, Buckingham Palace declared that the Queen would take the day off from presiding over a Privy Council meeting to rest. On September 19, the state burial for the monarch was held at Westminster Abbey in London, attended by 2,000 international leaders and royals. After the burial, a special committal service was held at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. She was then laid to rest next to Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, and King George VI.
