Over the past year, we’ve seen Will Ospreay truly prove himself as one of the greatest wrestlers in the world. Between his work in New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, and Revolution Pro Wrestling – Ospreay has been stacking up five star matches, surpassing even Kenny Omega. However, this had led to something of an obsession with Omega – leading to Ospreay trying to mock The Best Bout Machine by hitting his finisher.
Will Ospreay Feels The One Winged Angel Isn’t Worth Pissing Kenny Omega Off
Over his attempts to hit the One Winged Angel – it’s failed more than it’s helped, contributing to him losing the finals of the G1 Climax tournament to Kazuchika Okada, and to losing the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship. Add a direct loss to Kenny Omega & The Elite in the AEW World Trios Championship tournament, and Omega has become a touchy subject for Ospreay.
During an interview with Monthly Puroesu – Ospreay would speak on dropping the One Winged Angel from his mind, saying the risks aren’t worth pissing Kenny Omega off. He’d be quoted saying the following.
“I’ve noticed it and I think it’s best to avoid it. As powerful as that move is, it’s not something I’ve perfected in training and it’s led to my downfall. It’s not worth the risk just to piss him off.”
Still A Potential Main Event For Forbidden Door II
It’d be hard to deny Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay as a potential main event match of AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II. Right now, Kenny Omega is cleared from injuries that took him out action for the first Forbidden Door event, where Will Ospreay & Orange Cassidy stole the show. He’s suspended from in-ring action following a backstage brawl with CM Punk & Ace Steel, but will be back in the ring before long.
Outside of rehashing his already legendary feud with Kazuchika Okada, or finishing his trilogy with Hiroshi Tanahashi – Will Ospreay is the biggest potential name from NJPW for Omega to face. It’d be a massive money match, and would thrill fans in either America or Japan.
