It’s time for the third match in AEW World Trios Championship Tournament,as Death Triangle & United Empire will clash. PAC & Will Ospreay have met in the ring in the past as rivals, while Aussie Open & Lucha Bros are two of the top tag teams in the world today. Whoever gets the win will go on to face The Elite in the next round. Will Ospreay would love a chance to get his hands on Kenny Omega, especially after some recent back and forth on twitter – giving a crumb of extra motivation coming into tonight.
Jon Moxley Speaks After Crushing CM Punk
Before this match, we’d hear from the Undisputed AEW World Champion – Jon Moxley, who is still riding high after squashing CM Punk. Moxley claims that the same people who are shocked are the ones who thought his reign was over when Punk returned. However, he proved that no one can do what he can. He’s not just ‘some guy’, he’s ‘the guy’ in this industry.
Moxley would declare that his time is not coming, his time is right goddamn now. It’s hard to deny Jon Moxley has been the best wrestler in the world in 2022. His match quality has been off the charts, and to officially cement himself as the first ever two time AEW World Champion in such dominant fashion? No one can touch him.
Will Ospreay Weathers The Early Storm From Death Triangle
Ospreay would kick things off with Fenix, and they’d show why they’re two of the fastest wrestlers in the world. The cutter from Fenix was blocked with a handstand from Ospreay, who threw a kick. All six men would hit the ring for a brawl, before Fenix took out Aussie Open with a double cutter – sending them to the floor.
PAC & Penta would follow by sending Ospreay to the floor, before Death Triangle all dived in unison. Penta would lay in some strikes in the ring, as Don Callis on commentary said that Ospreay has been desperate to emulate Kenny Omega in NJPW. Ospreay would be isolated, with everyone in Death Triangle getting their blows in.
An overhand chop from Fenix would level Ospreay, before a kick to the head would rock him. Kyle Fletcher tried to get some life into Ospreay, and Ospreay would finally break free. He’d send Fenix to the floor for Aussie Open to attack, before hitting the Skytwister Press onto Penta & PAC.
Mark David would get the tag and would absolutely dwarf someone like Rey Fenix – and would rain down some heavy strikes. Aussie Open would try to double team Fenix – only to be blocked. Fenix broke free, and got the tag to Penta, who would take Aussie Open down with ease.
Will Ospreay Makes The Comeback
Ospreay would help to even the odds, before Fletcher would get the two count off the pinfall attempt. On the floor, Ospreay would send Fenix into the crowd with a chop – while PAC was driven into the barricade. In the ring, Ospreay would go after the mask of Penta – which has been a key way to defeat Lucha Bros in the past.
Ospreay would lay in the strikes to Penta, before a simple thumb to the eye. Penta would see Ospreay getting fancy in the corner, and hit a superkick. PAC would get the tag, and dropped Aussie Open with a split leg dropkick before the German Suplex on Ospreay. A second German Suplex would follow, before this one broke down into a six man brawl.
PAC hit a poison rana on Aussie Open as Ospreay did the same to the Lucha Bros, and they’d stare each other down. They’d trade forearm smashes in the middle of the ring, before Ospreay would nail that OsCutter. Ospreay was unable to make the cover, before PAC took him to the top rope, and down into the ring with a brainbuster!
Kip Sabian Helps Out United Empire
Ospreay would battle back to the top rope with PAC to throw some headbutts, only to be sent down to the ring again. PAC would look for the Black Arrow, before Ospreay recovered and wanted the Super Tombstone. Fenix made the save, and looed for the Superrana – but Ospreay landed on his feet.
Fenix would nail the cutter, and Penta took Mark Davis down. Fletcher was dropped with the spinning splash, and PAC would look for the Black Arrow – with Ospreay getting his knees up. Ospreay would look for Stormbreaker, but it was blocked into a rana for a two count. Fenix got the tag, but was taken from the sky by Davis – only to take a Mexican Destroyer.
PAC would nail the Satellite DDT, before hitting a moonsault to the floor. He’d lock eyes with Kip Sabian, and would unbox him. Sabian had planted a fan in his place, and struck from behind – perhaps aligning with United Empire. In the ring, David would nail some heavy strikes to Rey Fenix, and we’d see a three way strike in the ring. Super OsCutter would land, and this one was over!
