A Florida Fugitive Was Arrested After Being on the Run for a Slew of Charges in Georgia
Earlier in the afternoon, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a truck had been stolen and headed into Flagler County on State Road 100. Oats and a female companion ditched the truck and took to the woods.
The two were tracked for hours before authorities got a tip from a local.
During their attempt to flee, they came upon a house where the female companion tried to get something to drink and use the resident’s phone. The resident had reason to be suspicious as the female accomplice knocked on her back door asking for help.
On the resident’s surveillance camera, Oats popped up and deputies knew he was in the area. Two hours later at around 10 PM authorities cornered the couple to a bunkhouse where he was arrested.
Jerrod Oats was charged with ten felonies and had several warrants for his arrest. His charges include two counts of marijuana possession, aggravated assault, kidnapping, willful obstruction of law enforcement, sexual battery of a child under 16, giving a false name to law enforcement, violation of probation, and armed robbery.
Currently, he is being held without bond at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and will be extradited to Camden County, Georgia shortly.
