In a drug bust that is sure to further impact bars in Montauk, New York, a drug trafficking operation was smashed up following a lengthy investigation involving the U.S postal system and bars in the city.
During an October 7, 2022 press conference, District Attorney Ray Tierney detailed the specifics of the bust and how the ring worked.

The group was sent the cocaine and fentanyl from New York City and the Dominican Republic. Tierney noted that the investigation began in March 2022 but they’ve observed drugs arriving in Montauk from the Dominican Republic since 2020.
Undercover work was essential in this investigation as agents purchased from those in the group. Authorities executed a search warrant on October 5, 2022. Meth, coke, fentanyl, and over $35,000.
Also snatched up were firearms and drug paraphernalia– a digital scale, baggies, and a kilo press.
The four arrested in the bust include Everado Hernandez (45), Angel Garces-Diaz, Anuedis Garces-Medrano (35), and Yadaris Baez-Rivera (26). Of the four, Garces-Diaz had the most counts against him while Baez-Rivera, Garces-Medrano, and Hernandez all have three felony counts.
Both Baez-Rivera and Hernandez have three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Garces-Medrano had two counts of criminal sale in the third-degree as well as a second-degree count of criminal sale.
As for Angel Garces-Diaz, he’s facing charges for seven counts of third-degree criminal sale, one count of first-degree attempted criminal possession, one count of second-degree criminal sale, and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession.
DA Tierney noted that the state’s laws on bail mean that Garces-Diaz is the only one who qualifies to be held on bail because of his offenses.
The four are expected in court on October 27, 2022.
