Will Ospreay Hypes Up Recent AEW Rival “If You’re Not Giving Him The Credit Where It’s Due, You Don’t Understand What Wrestling Is Anymore”

Back at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, fans got to see one of the best top to bottom wrestling cards of the year. It had something for everyone, and had some of the biggest stars in both companies clashing. However, one match now stands above all else now that the dust has settled. The match between Will Ospreay & Orange Cassidy for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship stole the show, and once again proved just how good Cassidy can be.

Will Ospreay Feels If You Don’t Give Orange Cassidy Credit, You Don’t Understand Wrestling

During a recent interview with WrestleInn, Will Ospreay would take a moment to hype up Orange Cassidy. He’d be quoted saying the following.

“Orange Cassidy is phenomenal. He understands everything about himself and knows how to play the mind games when it comes to his matches. If you’re not giving him the credit where it’s due, you don’t understand what wrestling is anymore.”

Since Forbidden Door, Ospreay has appeared in AEW alongside Aussie Open during the tournament to crown the first ever AEW World Trios Champions. They’d defeat Death Triangle in the opening round, before falling to eventual tournament winners The Elite. Ospreay has been active in the UK & Japan, losing the RPW Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship, but successfully defending the IWGP United States Championship recently against David Finlay.

Cassidy Is Trying To Capture Singles Gold In AEW

When it comes to Orange Cassidy, he recently went after the AEW All Atlantic Championship – losing to PAC at AEW Grand Slam. This was due to a cheap shot with the bell hammer, an action that has written Cassidy off TV for a while. Fellow Best Friends member Trent Beretta will challenge for the belt at Battle of the Belts, perhaps setting up the return of Cassidy.

It seems likely that Cassidy will be the one to take the belt off PAC given the dirty finish at Grand Slam. Fans have been wanting to see Cassidy as a champion in AEW since the beginning, and much like MJF – his time is now.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
