At Wrestle Kingdom 17, Taiji Ishimori will defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal Four Way match, defending against Master Wato, Hiromu Takahashi and El Desperado. Tonight, we have all four men in the ring – in what is being called “The Incredible Tag Match” as these four men remain bitter rivals. Hiromu Takahashi had an idea on how to make this work out perfectly.
They would pick envelopes during a press conference, with the teams decided as El Desperado & Master Wato and Taiji Ishimori & Hiromu Takahashi. Wato especially took this hard, saying “This might be the most unlucky day of my entire year. The guy I hate the most is in my corner. I won’t do this.” – which sets the tone for this match well. They all hate each other, but NJPW must have paid well to get them to behave tonight.
The Incredible Tag Match Is Chaotic As Advertised
Hiromu would try his best to make friends with Ishimori, as Wato & Desperado were already arguing. Wato would start, kicking away at Hiromu before blocking a hurricanrana by landing on his feet – only to be run down with a back elbow. Ishimori refused to make a tag, leaving Hiromu to beat down Wato himself.
Desperado took a dropkick on the apron, as Wato was brutalised with some quick chops. Hiromu was pulled to the floor and driven into the apron, with Wato & Desperado getting into a fight on the floor – with Wato kicking Desperado into the barricade. Desperado would tag in by slapping Wato across the face. Hard.
Hiromu would chop away at the chest of Desperado before being wiped out – desperately needing a tag, but Ishimori was napping on the floor. Desperado would tag out by slapping Wato across the face, letting him deal with Hiromu in the ring instead, talking trash by asking how exactly Wato intended to defeat the junior ace in the middle of the ring.
Taiji Ishimori Just Wanted This Match To End
Ishimori would tease accepting a tag, but again just left Hiromu to rot in the ring. Desperado instead pulled Hiromu to the floor, beating him around the barricade and dragging him up the ramp for a suplex and having to crawl to the ring. Wato would beat down Hiromu as he reached the ring, before being dropped with a hurricanrana.
He’d take down both opponents, and Ishimori was finally keen for a tag – for real life. The tag was a forearm to the face and dropkick off the apron. Hiromu tried to pin Ishimori, before the referee reminded him what was happening. Desperado got a blind tag, keen to steal the win – before a spinebuster into Numero Dos countered into a Crossface – as Wato applied Vendaval.
Ishimori tagged out to a half dead Hiromu, before Wato would dive over the top onto Ishimori, and Hiromu jumped onto them both. Feeling left out, Desperado dove onto the pile as well. Wato got the tag by kicking Desperado in the face, before an all out brawl in the ring. Hiromu & Ishimori pulled off a tag team move, and Bloody Cross took Desperado out before the Time Bomb from Hiromu was stopped by a jumping knee from Ishimori, allowing Wato to fall into the pinfall.
Jay White Remains In Control Ahead Of Wrestle Kingdom
Kazuchika Okada is the winner of the G1 Climax, and will be the man to face the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White at Wrestle Kingdom 17. Tonight, alongside Tama Tonga – Okada will meet White & KENTA in tag team action. Their latest high profile tag team meeting saw White & Juice Robinson defeat Okada and Eddie Kingston in New York, putting the momentum in the corner of BULLET CLUB tonight.
A Too Sweet would be hit by Gedo, White & KENTA – as Okada would choose to start alongside White. Okada & White would lock up in the middle of the ring, with White winning out before striking Okada down into the corner and calling him a coward. White would be run down by a shoulder tackle, before a boot to the face and sliding dropkick from Okada sent White to the floor.
KENTA & Tama would get tags, with White running a distraction to allow KENTA to take the edge – before trading blows, ending with Tama winning out with a dropkick. Okada got the tag, with KENTA dropped to the mat and still managing to kick Okada in the head. A snap DDT would land on Tama, before he was sent to the floor and choked by a camera cable.
Back in the ring, KENTA hit a knee to the midsection, and would try to force the pinfall – before White hit some aggressive shoulder tackles in the corner. Tama was isolated and mocked in the BULLET CLUB corner – but the crowd remains behind him as he took a stiff kick to the spine. He’d fire up and complete the tag, with Okada hitting the ring with the fast elbow smash to the face.
The Rainmaker Gets The Last Laugh Tonight
White was hit with a DDT, with Okada getting a two count. Elbow drop was avoided, and White hit a DDT of his own. White would hit some stiff chops, before looking for the Sleeper Suplex and being driven into the corner as a counter. KENTA would go after Okada with a neckbreaker before mocking the Rainmaker pose – and taking a boot to the face.
Tama would get the tag and pummelled KENTA into the corner, risking a DQ to get some extra blows in – and keeping White off the apron with a well timed punch. KENTA would manage to hit a DDT, before White & KENTA would look for a double team, Tama taking the Complete Shot into a German Suplex before the diving double stomp.
Running knee smash would land, with Okada saying the match. Go To Sleep was blocked, with Tama hitting the Tongan Twist. KENTA would look for a roll up with his feet on the ropes – but the referee caught this. Tama would hit Supreme Flow, before looking for Gun Stun – nailing it for the win.
