Sylvester Stallone recently discussed his longtime friend Bruce Willis. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he was asked about Willis who retired from acting in March 2022 because after his diagnosis with aphasia.
The condition is a cognitive disorder that impacted his ability to speak and communicate.
Sylvester Stallone Shares An Update On Bruce Willis After Aphasia Diagnosis and Retirement from Acting
The two had been major box office draws in action films throughout the 80s and 90s before finally linking up with other action stars for The Expendables franchise.
There was falling out between the two over Willis’ pay for The Expendables 3 resulting in his departure from the franchise. Stallone had some words about Willis but the two made up years before Bruce Willis was diagnosed.
About his friend’s condition and if they had been in touch, Stallone said:
“Bruce is going through some really, really difficult times. So he’s been sort of incommunicado.”
After news of Willis’ condition broke, Stallone reached out and shared his good wishes for his good friend. He would also post photos of the two over the years with the caption “We go back a long way, praying for the best for you and your wonderful family…”
About the lack of communication with Bruce Willis Stallone said “That kills me. It’s so sad.”
Bruce Willis has three limited-release/streaming films yet to be released. Detective Knight: Redemption is scheduled for a December 3, 2022 release while Detective Knight: Independence will be released on January 20, 2023.
His final film, Die Like Lovers was scheduled for September 2022 but is currently pending a release.
