The granddad has forgiven a FedEx driver who had abducted and killed his seven-year-old granddaughter in Texas.

According to the Sheriff’s Office of Wise County, the minor (Athena Strand) had an altercation with her stepmother, after which Athena did not return indoors and was absent from her room.
Subsequently, her stepmother reported her missing to the police, with enforcement officers surmising that the girl was likely taken away from her drive.
Mark Strand revealed that, despite his initial impulse to have a private conversation with 31-year-old Tanner Horner, he decided to heed a different impulse that suggested that his family could only heal through forgiveness.
On Wednesday, the defendant Tanner Horner grabbed Athena from the entrance of her house in Paradise, Texas, and her body was located on Friday. Law enforcement declared that it was likely she was murdered shortly after her abduction.
The authorities were able to link Horner to the homicide due to the FedEx delivery path he took on that day. Following his capture, Horner soon admitted to the crime. And once the dust had settled down, Strand had this to say.
In his comments, he said: “There’s not one ounce of my flesh that wants to do this or say this, but my spirit has heard God’s voice and right now, while tears flood my eyes, I declare publicly that I forgive this man.
“Hate will not win.” The response on social media was one of praise. A large proportion of people admitted that they could not have the courage to do what the grandfather had done by forgiving this man.
One person wrote: “He is a far better person then I will ever be, personally I would have the b***ard shot for what he [did’,” while another person stated: “Good for him. The only Justice will occur in the jailhouse. Let’s hope the prisoners send this Evil Trash to his True Judgment Day.”
