That is because his father was none other than Osama bin Laden. His father was the head of Al Qaeda and raised him to be the successor to his terror network, the boy was subject to beatings and even saw chemical weapons tested on his puppies.
Aged 41 and now residing in Normandy with his British spouse – Zaina bin Laden – they plan to offer vacation apartments in a new life.
Omar also revealed that he had been denied entry to the UK, and that he and Zaina wanted to move there to be near her family. He is currently seeking a visa, having previously been denied on more than one occasion.
When looking back on his experience in trying to get to England, this is what he had to say: “When I put my foot on English soil [border guards] took us straight away to the questioning room for many hours.
“But they were very kind and very respectful.” Nevertheless, that was not the only difficulty though. Zaina expanded on how her husband did not have a good relationship with his father, which changed dramatically following the September 11th attacks.
And as Bin Laden was named as the perpetrator of this crime, it did impact Omar’s mental health in coming to terms with just what his father had been implicated in.
In some prior comments, she remarked: “Omar loves and hates Osama at the same time. He loves him because he is his father but hates what he has done.
“I think he suffered post-traumatic stress disorder after 9/11. Seeing what his dad did ruined Omar’s life.” The Bin Laden name has been tarnished, but Omar has his chance to write a new chapter.
