It wasn’t explained how long she had been investigated or when she started smuggling items. Also not detailed is how or when she was brought in. What we do know is that Bennett was hit with possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, drug trafficking, smuggling drugs and contraband into the detention center, firearm possession, violating the oath of a public office, and giving prohibited items to inmates.
In addition to Bennett, Montez Wade—identified as Bennet’s supplier—was arrested on drug trafficking charges. Sheriff Wilcher of the Chatman County Sheriff’s Office said of the arrest:
“The actions of one officer, does not reflect the values and dedicated service of the men and women of the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office. We remain committed to the safety, security and well-being of the inmates and staff at the Chatham County Detention Center.”
