At around midnight on December 30, 2022, the Hartley County Sheriff’s Office in Texas received a 911 call from a driver who was concerned that they were being followed. A deputy recommended they stop at a gas station. The deputy arrived at the location when the truck that the caller was driving stopped in the middle of the highway.
Two individuals got out and ran up to the deputy’s vehicle aggressively, according to the statement.
Deputies in Texas Arrest Two Paranoid Drug Traffickers and Seize 129 1-Pound Bags of Marijuana After Traffickers Called 911 to Report Being Followed
The two individuals were ordered to stop at gunpoint and cuffed. While subdued, one of the individuals admitted that there was marijuana in their vehicle. Deputies searched the car and found 129 one-pound bags of marijuana.
In speaking with the suspects further, authorities gathered that they had been up for three days straight, were high on meth, and experiencing paranoia. Also, they claimed to be heading from Kansas to Alabama but deputies figured they were most likely coming from Colorado and heading to Alabama because they were in Hartley County.
Both suspects were charged with drug trafficking. Their identities, specific charges, and arrest status weren’t included in the statement from the Hartley County Sheriff’s Office.
It looks as though offenders believe that the police are an Uber-like service if this story and the Florida couple calling deputies to help move stolen stuff is any indication.
