If you’re a fan of the 1983 Christmas classic A Christmas Story, you’ll be familiar with the house that the film’s Parker family lived in. That house has seen several interested parties wanting to purchase it. One party is a group of A Christmas Story fans and actors.
Yano Anaya—who portrayed Grover Dill in the movie—is a member of that group and was filmed getting into a dispute with the house’s owner in November 2022.
‘A Christmas Story’ Actor and the Owner of the Iconic Parker House Patch Things Up Over New Year’s Eve Breakfast Following November 2022 Confrontation
The owner of the house—Brian Jones—got into it with Anaya when the actor showed up to express his group’s interest in the house. Apparently, Jones had gotten a lot of false interest and complaints about GoFundMe accounts scamming people out of money with purchasing the house being bait.
He confronted Anaya about showing up and called him a scammer and a piece of sh**. This stemmed from a member of Anaya’s group starting up a GoFundMe to raise funds. Following the alteration, Anaya sent emails to find out why Jones was so angry and attempted to calm things down.
Jones didn’t reply for some time until he reached out to Yano Anaya to meet up for breakfast on New Year’s Eve in Atlanta. The two cleared the air on the confrontation and it turned out to be a big misunderstanding with Yano and his group catching a stray because of the actions of scammers targeting the house.
The owner of the house would apologize to Anaya and welcome the group as potential buyers. He feels that they would be a good group to keep up the house and the tourism aspect of it.
The entire estate includes the Parker house, the Bumpus house next door, a gift shop, and other properties. Visitors are able to stay in the house overnight as well.
To show that everything had been cleared up, Anaya shared a photo of them in the holiday spirit in the Facebook group. He said that he and Jones have been friends for 20 years and praised him for starting the A Christmas Story House and Museum. Anaya also stated:
“And when friendships can withstand the tests of life, you cherish those relationships.
I don’t know one person that has never had an argument with a friend or family. How you come out on the other side is a choice. And Brian and I chose to sit down, talk and rekindle a relationship that’s better than it has ever been.”
Currently, Anaya’s group—A Christmas Story Family—has paid money to potentially make a full purchase of the house. It’s a change from last year when Jones said that his investment bank wasn’t interested in selling to cast members.
