In Texas, the FBI nabbed an individual who was trying to sell cocaine at a convenience store. As is usually the case, Jorge Enrique Chacon was under investigation by federal authorities for trafficking in the Brownsville area.
During their investigation, it was found that Chacon has possible ties to the Gulf Cartel, an organization based in Matamoros—across the border from Brownsville, Texas.
FBI Arrests Cocaine Trafficker with Suspected Cartel Ties in Texas – Seize 13 POUNDS of Coke
Chacon was arrested on December 22, 2022 while bringing drugs to sell to an FBI informant. The intended deal was to sell the drugs at $13,000 per kilo. Chacon met the informant at a Lowes parking lot to show him the coke before leading him to a convenience store parking lot for the sale.
Once the suspect parked, the FBI moved in and arrested Chacon. The drugs were located inside a backpack and contained “five wrapped bundles of what appeared to be cocaine.” The total weight was 13.10 pounds or 5,943 kilos.
Jorge Enrique Chacon was charged with possession and conspiracy with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He remains held without bond.
