In Livingston Parish, Louisiana, a former deputy pleaded guilty to their involvement in several sex crimes involving children. The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation moved on former Livingston Parish lieutenant deputy Dennis Perkins (47) and his wife Cynthia in 2019.
The LBI had received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the couple having and giving out child pornography.
Former Louisiana Deputy Sentenced to 100 Years Behind Bars on Child Pornography and Sexual Assault Charges – Wife Confessed to Helping Feed Students Sweets Laced with Husband’s Semen
As you may have guessed, authorities found a significant amount of illegal material, and the two were arrested. The couple was booked on 60 counts of production of pornography involving a juvenile under the age of 13, two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of video voyeurism, two counts of obscenity, and three counts of possession of child pornography.
Cynthia Perkins cracked first and admitted to helping Dennis rape an underage victim. She also confessed to helping him film a child bathing and lacing sweets with Dennis’ sperm and giving them to her students. In February 2022, she pleaded guilty to second-degree rape, production of child porn, and mingling of harmful substances.
Almost a year later on January 3, 2023, Dennis Perkins pleaded guilty to the same charges as well as video voyeurism and sexual battery of a child under 13. The first-degree rape was likely dropped to the second-degree and sexual battery since the two pleaded guilty—not that it mattered considering the time given and the time they were facing.
The former deputy was sentenced to 100 years behind bars. Judge Erika Sledge added that those 100 years should involve “hard labor without benefit.”
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry touched on Dennis Perkins’ offenses and sentencing:
“Our State is suffering from a crime epidemic, and it is going to take a strong commitment from local and state officials to defeat it. Criminals must be punished for their crimes, and victims must be supported. Today, my office sent a loud message to predators lurking: if you harm children, you will receive the justice you deserve.”
