According to the U.S District Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, a higher-up in a Honduran crime organization has pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges. Erlinda Ramos-Bobadilla (62) was charged in 2013 after ordering the murder of someone her son and Los Montes cartel boss—Noe Montes-Bobadilla—believed to be an informant.
Honduran Cartel Godmother Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking Charges in Virginia
From their investigation, the DOJ found that Ramos-Bobadilla was a head figure in the Los Montes cartel based out of Honduras. The organization had been in the family’s power for years with her husband being the head until he died in 2010.
Their son Noe would become the head of the cartel with his brothers Alejandro and Juan Carlos holding positions in the command of the organization. In 2018, Noe pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges. Alejandro died at some point while Juan Carlos remains at large with a $5 million reward for his capture.
Erlinda Ramos-Bobadilla pleaded guilty to her role in the cartel’s cocaine smuggling operations from Honduras in the United States. By pleading guilty, information she will surrender could help in another case in Virginia that involves a member of Los Valles, a partner cartel of Los Montes.
