At the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina, authorities found $45,000 in cash on a traveler. The cash was found in a canvas bag, a hoodie, and another bag. The man had several excuses for why he had the money on him from being a party promoter for rapper Polo G to selling dogs to winning a sports bet.
Police in North Carolina Stopped Man Who Claimed to be Polo G’s Party Promoter with $45K in Drug Money at Airport
Of course, federal authorities believe that the money was gained via drug trafficking. It didn’t help that the man couldn’t provide a straight answer or keep his story straight. However, there is a problem in that there were no drugs on the traveler’s person but a drug dog sniffed out the money.
In investigating the traveler, they found 1,400 transactions on CashApp between May 2021 and May 2022. A couple of the transactions mentioned drugs. Also found were 35 flights in a short period out to California.
Currently, authorities are still investigating the case but no charges were weighed against the traveler. They will need to dig up more but if the California trips can definitely be linked to drug trafficking before charges can be pushed through. If anything, a forfeiture of the $45,000 is the back up plan if he can’t be arrested and charged.
