Florida Man Pleads Guilty to Raping Woman Who Was Serving Out a 51-Month Sentence via House Arrest
Cruz’s victim was a woman who was serving out a 51-month sentence at home. As the victim was under heavy restrictions and wasn’t the one with authority between the two, Cruz reportedly took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted the victim.
Since she is an inmate, relationships between the incarcerated and authority/officials are not only grounds for termination but they come with charges. The victim reported Cruz prompting an investigation by authorities. Video footage of encounters between the two as well as DNA belonging to Cruz were gathered from the victim’s home.
Benito Montes de Oca Cruz confessed to raping an inmate and engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior and could face up to two years behind bars. He is slated for sentencing on April 14, 2023.
