There have been reports for the last year that the WWE is highly interested in signing Wardlow, and it makes sense. He’s the type of wrestler Vince McMahon loves — He’s big, imposing, and popular.
And with Cody Rhodes continuing to get his push to defeat Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, there’s plenty of speculation that Wardlow will jump ship.
Is Wardlow Heading to WWE?
There’s plenty of suggestive evidence pointing toward this from Wardlow reportedly removed from the AEW roster to him not being happy with how AEW is booking him.
And then there are the reports that AEW wrestlers are being swayed by how well Cody is being treated in the WWE, though the consensus is he was signed and is being pushed because he’s a former EVP of AEW and it gives the WWE a one up on their competition.
Where’s wardlow?!?

With that being said, MJF’s comments about paying Wardlow to stay at home could, while being used to further their storyline, be AEW’s way of writing him off television while they work out a deal with him.
Could the move work?
The speculation started when Konnan reportedly said a big name from AEW is considering a move to WWE due to poor booking and the wrestler losing momentum.
Wardlow does seem to fit into that description, and it wouldn’t surprise us that Wardlow and others may be looking at WWE as an alternative as the grass always looks greener on the other side.
But will that be the best move for him? It’s widely believed Cody was fast tracked to the main roster in large part due to his lengthy career but also because he is a former AEW EVP.
Wardlow is still fresh in many ways, so it’d make sense WWE would have him go through NXT where we’d expect him to have a dominant run before getting called up.
The fear we have is the WWE won’t know how to book him either and he’ll fall flat like Karrion Kross on the main brand.
Obviously, that’s a ways down the line assuming he does leave AEW for WWE, and he did ascend to being one of AEW’s top stars, so there’s reason to believe he’ll pull it off.
What would help him is his size. It’ll make it more believable for him to maul and dominate his opponents in the WWE, especially given the company’s lack of size overall.
The real fun will happen when he faces off with some of their bigger talent, in size and skill, like Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley, and Brock Lesnar.
In a perfect world he’ll be able to work with one of them or another of the company’s top smart talents that’ll help him develop and grow.
