Sammy Guevara was the winner of the Four Pillars Tournament, which should have secured him a main event spot at Double or Nothing. However, with MJF having helped Guevara cheat to defeat both Jack Perry & Darby Allin – a call was made by Tony Khan.
MJF & Guevara will need to defeat Perry & Allin tonight in a tag team encounter, and should they lose – it’s a Fatal Four Way match for Double or Nothing.
MJF has been undefeated so far in 2023, but tonight could give a rare black mark on his record should Guevara slip up. Before this match, MJF tried to get into the mind of Perry – wanting to see him throw this match, but Perry refused.
The Fate Of AEW Double Or Nothing Hangs In The Balance
Guevara would start this match against Perry, taking a big arm drag and a dropkick from the former AEW World Tag Team Champion.
Perry offered a tag to Allin, and he’d hit the ring alongside MJF – and Allin nearly stole the match with a slick inside cradle. He’s known as a daredevil, but is also one of the best technical wrestlers in the company.
MJF & Guevara would ask for Perry back into the match, and MJF called for the ref as he locked up with Perry – accusing Perry of a hair pull.
Allin & Perry would work together to hit a shoulder tackle on MJF, only for MJF & Guevara to bend the rules to regain control of the match. MJF sent the attention of the referee to Perry, as Guevara choked Perry using MJF’s scarf – with this almost caught as they tried to do it a second time.
Perry would go after MJF, and was a disservice to Allin – who would be choked with the scarf again. Allin was able to counter, and choked both Guevara & MJF as Perry distracted the referee – a well deserved payback.
Perry was yanked off the apron at the last second by MJF, preventing a tag from Allin and throwing Perry into the barricade before showing off his AEW World Heavyweight Championship.
During the commercial break, MJF would call Maryland an abortion of a state, getting the crowd completely behind them.
Allin would work towards a tag to Perry, breaking past both MJF & Guevara to get a fired up Perry into the match. Perry would nail a huge double comebacker lariat – and kept the pressure on with some perfect suicide dives.
MJF Faces His Worst Nightmare – Three Opponents At Once
Perry just kept the dives coming one after another, and the second he ran out of fuel – Allin was there to continue for his team. Guevara was rolled into the ring, and spiked with a Tiger Driver – getting Perry a near fall. Perry looked to dive off the top rope, but MJF grabbed his foot – allowing Guevara to hit a Top Rope Spanish Fly.
MJF would get the tag, and hit some crushing right hands to the face of Perry before launching Guevara into a Swanton Bomb. Perry was able to avoid this at the last second, and Allin would hit the ring hitting a Code Red on Guevara. MJF would be able to counter into a powerbomb instead, getting a two count.
While going for a backdrop, MJF missed a blind tag to Perry, and ended up in the Snare Trap – with Guevara having to make the save.
Guevara would dive onto both Allin & Perry, with MJF staying on his feet in the ring ready for the Elevated Hammerlock DDT on Perry – getting a near fall. Perry would be take a powerbomb onto the knee of MJF, with Guevara tagging himself in – and a rift was forming between these friends.
MJF would slap Guevara, saying that he needs to do as he says. Guevara would nail a superkick on MJF, and was now left alone. Perry hit a sliding elbow, and Allin got the blind tag hitting the Coffin Drop – and it’s a Fatal Four Way match at AEW Double Or Nothing.
