Skye Blue was extremely close to winning the AEW Women’s World Championship – but interference from Ruby Soho ensured that Toni Storm remained champion. After the bell, Blue was the victim of a two on one attack, but would gain aid in the form of the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion – Willow Nightingale.
Tonight, Blue & Willow will unite to face the The Outcasts – and look to bring a major blow to this dominant faction. Saraya was once again not around to back up her allies, but they proved on Wednesday that they might not need her.
Skye Blue & Willow Nightingale Secure A Huge Victory
The Outcasts would attack before the bell – sending Blue & Willow to the floor. Storm would hit a snap suplex, before getting in Mama Blue’s face at ringside.
Blue’s mother would not be intimidated – slapping both Soho & Storm as Willow got Soho into the ring. A stiff lariat in the corner would crush Soho, before Willow rolled her into the middle of the ring for a low angle crossbody.
Some wrist clutch lariats would land on Soho, before Willow was tossed across the ring into a forearm smash to the back from Storm. A tag was completed, as The Outcasts began to isolate Willow. The crowd would get behind Blue on the apron, hyping up the Chicago native as she hoped Willow would find an opening for a tag.
Soho would remind everyone that Willow was once her friend, but that didn’t get her anywhere. Willow was once again stomped into the wrong corner of the ring, being overwhelmed. Soho tried for a suplex, but Willow used her power to block before a wrist clutch lariat.
Blue would get the tag alongside Storm, picking up where she left off on Wednesday. Storm was sent flying with the headscissor before the Blue Justice Knee landed.
Blue would dive off the top rope with a crossbody, getting a two count before Soho broke the pinfall up. Storm would apply the Texas Cloverleaf but Blue found the ropes.
Angle Slam from Willow was followed by the straps coming down. Babe With The Powerbomb was blocked as Soho hit the No Future.
Willow got a tag to Blue, who was set up for the running hip attack. Soho would set up Destination Unknown, before Storm looked to use the spray paint. She got Soho instead, and Blue hit Code Blue for a huge hometown victory.
AEW Stands For Acclaimed Every Weekend
At AEW Double or Nothing 2023 – The Acclaimed would answer an open challenge for the AEW World Trios Championships. With Billy Gunn rounding out their ranks, they would push the champions House of Black to the limit – and nearly brought an end to their reign.
However, Gunn would fall short, and it was back to the drawing board for the fan favourite trio. Despite this, The Acclaimed would refuse to give up, and intend to challenge again. Tonight we will hear from them on the debut episode of Collision – and get a better idea of their future plans.
Tony Schiavone would welcome Daddy Ass & The Acclaimed to the ring – with Caster rapping and referencing CM Punk, how they stole more hearts in Chicago than Donald Trump stole documents, and said that tomorrow everyone should wish Billy Gunn a happy fathers day.
Gunn was excited about tonight and got himself some new clothes adorned with scissors. It’s been a straining few weeks on his head, but The Acclaimed are ready to get back on track.
Bowens would say that AEW now stands for two things – Acclaimed Every Wednesday, and Acclaimed Every Weekend. They are intending to be on every possible show – and want to make history.
In the city that made The Acclaimed, on the first episode of AEW Collision, and infront of a crowd full of people who love The Acclaimed – we got a four way scissoring including Tony Schiavone!
