Right now, the AEW women’s division is still a work in progress. They have a rock solid roster, and the recent addition of Saraya has only boosted hope in the division. Add in the likes of Toni Storm, Athena, Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, & Hikaru Shida always putting in the hard work, and some promising rising stars like Julia Hart & Jade Cargill? The division has a bright future, and Tony Khan has ensured New York born Skye Blue is part of that future.
AEW Gets 22 Year Old Skye Blue Under Contract
At just 22 years old, Skye Blue is potentially one of the top prospects in the AEW locker room, and we can now confirm she’s signed a new deal with AEW. Prior to now, it’s believed she was simply on a ‘pay per appearance’ deal, and nothing exclusive to AEW. With morale rising in the WWE locker room and revamps coming to their NXT brands, AEW needs to work to lock down the likes of Blue on their roster – to ensure they don’t lose some potentially big stars.
Blue has been wrestling for 5 years now, and has worked around 50 matches for AEW. She most recently wrestled ex-Stardom wrestler Jungle Kyona, someone that many AEW fans want to see brought into the mix sooner than later. That match for Black Label Pro is being touted as one of her best matches to date.
Tony Khan Needs To Keep Investing In Women’s Division
While Blue is not a major player right now in AEW, she should be viewed as a developmental project. She’s constantly improving, and having access to coaches like Dustin Rhodes, Jake Roberts, Jerry Lynn, and Madison Rayne will only speed up her progress. Many overlook young female talent in AEW, not being given the same platform as the young men in the company, who have earned labels like “The Four Pillars” and “The Four Killers”.
This is likely due to there being less faith in the AEW women’s division as a whole, which has often come off as a weak point on AEW programming. However, things aren’t going to get better unless Khan makes smart deals, like signing Saraya and ensuring Skye Blue stays in AEW.
