A lot of AEW Collision business was discussed during POST x Wrestlenomics interview with Tony Khan. A topic of discussion among fans at the moment is the strength of the AEW Collision ticket sales in Canada—or rather how weak the sales have been.
It’s been an ongoing topic of discussion as ticket tracking Twitter account WrestleTix shows the updated sales regularly. Things aren’t trending toward surge purchasing or anything for most of the Canadian shows. With that said, the U.S shows that sandwich the Canadian dates are doing fine and Khan sees this.
Tony Khan Addresses the Weaker Ticket Sales for AEW Collision in Canada
Khan puts the sales down to a fear of the unknown, so to speak. He believes that since fans don’t know what to expect from Collision. He explained to Wrestlenomics that the sales for Chicago and the U.S return were both strong and that this was good for Collision.
Mind you, that doesn’t explain the sales in Canada. That’s not an indication of how good the shows themselves will be but ticket sales will always be a concern since it indicates interest in the product within a market.
The ticket sales themselves aren’t awful for a smaller venue. Again, the problem is the size of the venues and how much is being used. Of course, Khan took the venues that were available but selecting venues that can be filled or almost filled is preferred.
Of course, AEW could definitely do better on a second tour of Canada off the strength of this tour. That’s down to having great shows that leave an impression and selecting better-sized venues or dropping ticket prices.
Tony Khan said that he believes that the second annual Owen Hart Cup will bump the sales of AEW Collision in Canada since most of the tournament will go down on the show.
Do you believe that the tournament will help the Canadian sales? If AEW runs another Canadian tour do you see stronger numbers if the show go off well? Or do you expect weaker numbers on a future tour?
Share your thoughts on this and let us know if you’re attending the AEW Collision or AEW Dynamite shows or any of the tour.
