It’s hard to deny that Adam Cole is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world today. His time in WWE as part of their NXT brand would see him have many five star matches during his reigns as the North American & NXT Champion – but this was nothing new for Cole.
Even looking back to his time in Ring of Honor as part of The Kingdom with Matt Taven, it was clear Cole was always going to be something very special. Now in 2023, Taven & Cole are both in All Elite Wrestling, and anything could happen.
Matt Taven Still Views Adam Cole As A Mentor
While speaking on the Stick to Wrestling podcast – Taven would be asked if he hopes to reunite with Cole on AEW programming, having the following to say.
“I would say never say never. Even more than that, myself and Roderick Strong, I can’t give enough credit to Roddy. Just like Jay Briscoe, he helped me so, so much when I first started at Ring of Honor. He was, still to this day, such a mentor to me and someone that I could go to and will always give me an honest opinion and will help me out. He’s very giving with his time and his knowledge.
So never say never, and honestly, Cole knows my number. We talk constantly. If he ever needs help or he needs someone in Boston this week, I’m only a phone call away, and I know Mike and Maria are as well. Wrestling works in mysterious ways. Who knows what might happen? It’s one of those things where, unlike the Bullet Club, once you’re a member of the Kingdom, it’s a lifelong bond that never goes away.”
Right now, Cole is in an angle with AEW World Champion MJF – working with him as part of a tag team. Cole is expected to challenge for the World Championship later this summer at AEW All Out. Meanwhile, Taven & Bennett are mainly working in Ring of Honor as a top tag team.
