CM Punk thought that when he hit the ring with MJF in Chicago, nothing could go wrong. He was in his hometown, taking on someone who is barely as old as his career in professional wrestling. However, by the end of the night – MJF was the one getting his hand raised, albeit with a massive assist from Wardlow. Now, after teaming with Jon Moxley to defeat FTR – CM Punk has a chance to name the time, place, and ruleset for his rematch with MJF, and would do so tonight on Dynamite.
CM Punk Challenges MJF To Dog Collar Match
Punk would open the show, and started by telling everyone that he’s Straight Edge and that means he’s better than you. Those words were the foundation of his career for the past twenty years, and those words inspired a generation of professional wrestlers. Some became wrestlers because of him, became straight edge because of him. Then you have MJF.
He tries to walk, talk and think like Punk – but can’t. However, he beat CM Punk in his hometown, and Punk is rather impressed by this. He’s proud of MJF, but knows that MJF fails to retain the information that the match gave him. However, thanks to Jon Moxley’s help – and now on March 6th at Revolution. The match type will be a Dog Collar match – a match which Punk has experienced alongside Raven; all so MJF can’t even consider running away.
For once in his career, MJF was left speechless – coming out to the stage to stare down CM Punk and that wicked dog collar. Only one other Dog Collar match has happened in the history of AEW – a bloody affair between Cody Rhodes & Mr. Brodie Lee. This is unlike anything MJF has ever been challenged to in AEW, and that’s perfect for a big PPV clash.
Bryan Danielson Teaches Lee Moriarty A Lesson In Violence
Bryan Danielson has made his plans for 2022 in AEW crystal clear. He wants to create the greatest faction in professional wrestling history, with Jon Moxley alongside him. Names like Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta & Lee Moriarty are on his radar as potential members, but insulting the teachings of Matt Sydal brought some anger out of him and Moriarty. That would lead into the ring tonight as Moriarty goes one on one with The American Dragon.
A handshake was offered to start this match, but it was a ruse to get into the head of Moriarty. Danielson started the match with a sprawl, and Moriarty got the wrist before being taken down to the mat. Moriarty would have the taste slapped out of his mouth, before picking the ankle of Danielson and looking for a leg lock before being outwrestled.
Danielson would apply the Romero Special Dragon Sleeper, before looking for the Border City Stretch – taught to Moriarty by Alex Shelley. The ropes would save Danielson, but a PK to the elbow would catch Danielson. Moriarty applied the double arm stretch – but Danielson was able to easily slip out.
The Best Lee Moriarty AEW Has Ever Seen
Danielson trapped Moriarty in the ropes and nailed some mid-kicks, before a knee strike right to the jaw. More kicks would land to the chest of Moriarty, but Danielson was starting to perhaps get cocky – as he took time to taunt while Moriarty had a chance to recover. A single underhook suplex would drop Moriarty, but was not nearly enough to end the match.
Moriarty would find some elbow shots to the face of Danielson following a bridging exchange, before the LeBell Lock would get a near submission – but the ropes saved this. A back suplex would find another opening, with the crowd getting behind Moriarty.
European Uppercuts met Moriarty, but he’d slickly counter into a backslide for a near fall. The right hand to the ear just fired up Moriarty, who threw elbow strikes. Danielson nailed the rolling elbow in response before having the Buzzsaw kick blocked, and Moriarty nearly ended things with a belly to belly suplex. Border City Stretch was applied, but Danielson countered right into a RegalPlex.
Running knee strike would follow, all but knocking Moriarty out. He wanted to kick his head in first however, so he grabbed those wrists and stomped away before the Triangle Sleeper got the victory. Following the match, Danielson said that his plan was to teach Moriarty about violence – but did he pass? Danielson thinks so.
Jon Moxley Has His Answer For Bryan Danielson
However, Danielson is still waiting for an answer from Jon Moxley – and Moxley would hit the ring with his typical swagger. He’d take this time through the crowd, making Danielson wait just that bit longer to get his answer.
About a decade ago, Moxley was like Moriarty. Young, angry, poor, and nothing to lose. He took a shot at Bryan Danielson in Dragon Gate USA. Danielson showed up late already in his gear, and that was how Moxley met him. Moxley fought tooth and nail against The Best in the World, and that made him a better wrestler.
Every single time he’s wrestled Bryan Danielson, he’s lost – but has always come out better. So when Danielson came to AEW, Moxley was excited to have another chance. However, Danielson doesn’t want to fight, he wants to instead join forces. Moxley has been listening, and Danielson has come up with good points with his idea.
They could truly create a next generation of killers, create a legacy to leave behind. Moxley couldn’t think of one good reason to say no, but now he wonders if Danielson wants to stand side by side with Moxley – because he fears him. So now Danielson has a question to answer – does he fear Moxley, or not.
