Jason Momoa has expressed regret over taking footage of the Sistine Chapel during his recent trip to Vatican City.
Jason Momoa Apologises For Taking Pictures Of The Sacred Sistine Chapel But Fans Are Still Not Happy-‘His Callous Apology Is Sickening And Disgraceful’
The star of ‘Aquaman’ raised a few eyebrows when he decided to post a series of pictures of some artwork that he had seen.
In doing so, the actor overlooked the fact that all forms of photography have been outlawed on the basis that the flash coming from the camera could have a negative impact on the art.
So when Jason shared the following pictures, he did risk the prospect of creating a lot of backlash. In the pictures here, we can see that Jason is inside the cathedral. The exquisite artwork is there of all to see, and Jason does not hold back on showing it off.
As expected, a large proportion of fans on social media had a lot to say. People began to highlight the discrepancies in treatment between high-profile celebrities and the common man.
In the process of doing so, people did not hold back on their condemnation for the star. One person wrote: “Typically Hollywood Elitist with the “Rules for Thee but Not for Me” perspective.
“I may not be Catholic; but his callous apology is sickening and disgraceful,” while another person stated: “To me, I’ve never met the guy in real life but he sure seems like the arrogant type.”
As a result, Jason had no option but to come out and apologise. Although the damage has now been done, in addition to the fact that Jason is likely to just get a telling off, perhaps this experience will teach the star to stick to the rules that have been set up.
And with that, this may discourage others who were looking to do the same. In response, Jason remarked: “I would never want to do anything to disrespect someone’s culture.
“If I did, I apologise. It was not my intention. I paid to have that private moment and gave a nice donation to the church. I love you. I’m sorry if I offended you.”
This is a lesson that Jason won’t forget in a hurry. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
