Ever since The Young Bucks started their careers, they’ve drawn comparisons to another brother tag team in The Hardyz. Now, with Matt & Jeff Hardy united on the AEW roster, The Young Bucks have a chance to defeat them on a big stage. What started as a dream match turned very personal, when The Young Bucks decided to mock the Hardyz on AEW Rampage.

They came out dressed as the duo, with their old friend and manager of Gangrel. After a match where they only used moves made famous by Matt & Jeff, they would look to take out Gangrel. Matt & Jeff made the save, but Young Bucks added an extra wrinkle of drama into this match.

    Young Bucks Arrive In Style

The Young Bucks had a special entrance for Las Vegas, a riff on Viva Las Vegas by Elvis – and some Elvis inspired ring gear, similar to what was worn at Double or Nothing 2019 by Young Bucks. Matt Hardy would start with Matt Jackson, with Jackson getting the dropkick. Hardy would sweep the leg for a pin attempt, but Jackson was able to easily outspeed him.

Jeff Hardy got the tag into the match, and Matt Jackson quickly tagged Nick Jackson in. Nick & Jeff would clash in the ring, with Nick hitting a running shoulder block, before wasting time with a taunt, and was sent outside. Matt & Jeff would mock Young Bucks, before hitting Spin Cycle on Matt Jackson.

Matt Hardy would hit a suplex in the ring, before Young Bucks hit a double kick on Jeff Hardy. A double superkick would land on Matt Hardy, before Young Bucks would isolate Jeff, and Brandon Cutler would yank Matt Hardy off the apron as Jeff lunged for a tag. Jeff would hit the Whisper In The Wind, allowing him to complete the tag.

Matt Hardy would hit the Side Effect on Nick, getting a near fall. Twist of Fate was attempted, before Matt Hardy was shoved over the top rope. Jeff would join his brother on the floor, before Nick hit a massive dive down to the floor. Young Bucks would hit the Risky Business on Matt Hardy, only getting a two count.

The Hardyz Work Through The Pain

Nick Jackson would accidentally kick Cutler in the face when aiming for Matt Hardy, before taking a backdrop. Jeff dove onto Nick, before Matt Hardy hit a Side Effect on the apron. Matt Jackson was rolled into the ring, before Poetry in Motion would land.

Young Bucks would hit a combo backbreaker and double stomp, before Matt Jackson went after Jeff on the top rope. Jeff nailed a top rope jawbreaker, but missed the Swanton Bomb. Instead, Matt & Nick Jackson hit a Twist of Fate into a Swanton Bomb, but Jeff would be able to kick out.

Jeff would avoid the BTE Trigger, but took a double superkick. Matt Hardy would rally up, before both men were levelled with a superkick party. The Hardyz would again get up, before another set of double superkicks, and Jeff Hardy kicked out.

Steel steps were set up at ringside, and Jeff Hardy was placed on top. Meltzer Driver was the plan, but Matt Hardy made the save. Splash Mountain would land on Nick Jackson, before Jeff Hardy hit a Swanton Bomb onto Matt Jackson on the steel steps.

Matt Hardy hit Twist of Fate in the ring, but somehow only got a two count. A second was blocked, before Side Effect landed. Nick got spiked with Twist of Fate, and Jeff Hardy got the win with a Swanton Bomb.

The Star Of The Show Is Here

Ever since making her debut, Jade Cargill has been on the fast track to becoming a superstar for AEW. She swept the field in the TBS Championship tournament, and now is the defending champion. She’s turned away challenger after challenger, but tonight one is looking for a rematch. Anna Jay of The Dark Order similarly had a rapid rise up the AEW roster.

She was handpicked by the late great Mr. Brodie Lee to join the faction, and was branded the Queen Slayer. Jay knows this might well be her final chance to become TBS Champion during the Jade Cargill era, and will be ready to do anything to win here tonight.

Anna Jay would call back to her original ‘Star of the Show’ gimmick with her attire tonight, and tonight is looking to show how far she’s come. Cargill would start aggressively, driving Jay into the corner. Jay would look for the Queen Slayer Sleeper, but Jade was able to easily break free.

Snap suplex would be followed by a lariat, before Cargill went to the top rope to hit a double axe handle. Jay would get cornered, before a running back elbow. Cargill again went to the top rope, but was caught with a superplex. A top rope blockbuster would catch Jade, before Kiera Hogan & Red Velvet attacked at ringside.

    Athena Is All Elite?!

They’d be dispatched with a double DDT, but when Jay came into the ring she had to block Jaded. Mark Sterling sent a crutch into the ring and distracted the referee, but Anna Jay used it for a Russian Leg Sweep. John Silver took out Sterling at ringside, but back in the ring – Eye of the Storm landed on Jay.

Jaded would be blocked into the Queen Slayer, but Jade was able to fight free. Jay would go up top, but Jade would catch her. Stokely Hathaway would debut, distracting Jay and allowing Jade Cargill to hit the Super Jaded.

After the match, Athena would make her debut to even up the odds – standing with Kris Statlander & Anna Jay against The Baddie Section. She’s the former Ember Moon in AEW, and has finally found her way to AEW.
