Qatar–host of the 2022 World Cup–has banned single people from having sex in the country and will be enforcing that law. If you’re surprised, don’t be as it is a thing at the World Cup and it’s a sporting event where many have to travel and will want some random nookie while away from home.
The ban isn’t just limited to the World Cup. Qatar has a law against single people having sex in the country. Premarital sex is prohibited, folks. If fans want to get in it, they’ll have to–I don’t know–cross over the country’s border and do it there, I suppose.
Qatar Is Enforcing a Law Against Single People Clapping Cheeks and Getting Stink On Their Hang Low at the 2022 World Cup
According to the Daily Star, lawbreakers could face up to 7 years in prison just for clapping some cheeks or getting their cheeks clapped. A police spokesman confirmed that single people having sex in the country will not be tolerated:
“Sex is very much off the menu, unless you are coming as a husband and wife team. There definitely will be no one-night stands at this tournament.”
The official went on to point out that “Fans need to be prepared” for the sex ban and acknowledged that it was a first in World Cup history. It’s not exactly the kind of historical first that should be mentioned as if it were an achievement but it’s definitely something that single tourists should know.
In addition to no hookups, partying should also probably be off the books because alcohol is illegal as well. The official said, “Everyone needs to keep their heads about them, unless they want to risk being stuck in prison.”
Given that fans are paying a lot for rooms, dining, travel in the country, tickets to games, and tickets for travel to the country, the notion that it is illegal to really get down might just result in a hefty number of tickets being sold by ticketholders.
